Van-SJ
Vancouver trades LW Chris Higgins, D Keith Ballard and a 2013 2nd round draft pick to San Jose for RW Martin Havlat
Vancouver: Pros: -Vancouver gains a good top 6 forward to play with either the Sedins or Kesler. -clears up cap space -possible 55-65pts guy Cons: -Havlat might not bounce back from his injuries -sacrifice our depth. -our 3rd pairing defense would be very weak. Alberts-Tanev would get destroyed by opposing forwards San Jose: Pros: -gains a versatile top 9 forward. Higgins can play 2nd, 3rd or 4th line with spot duties on the 1st in case of injuries -gains depth on the blueline with the addition of Ballard. Ballard can play top 4 when given the chance Cons: -possible hole in top 6 if Higgins does not produce as he had in Vancouver -if Havlat bounces back to a 70+pts guy *If this trade is not good enough what would be a good even trade? I don't think San Jose considers it. Personally I'd do it easily. It seems like classic quantity-for-quality.
|
Hmmm. I don't know how I feel about this. Higgins is a pretty good player, He scored over 40 points last season next to a slumping Kesler and newly acquired Booth. If those two were rolling he'd be a 50 point guy easily. Couple that with his grit and mere 1.9mil contract I'm not sure he's a guy I'd like to move.
I'm really on the fence here. I have a feeling SJS passes. |
I don't think San Jose will accept Ballard, even with the other pieces. I'm also unsure how most Sharks fans will react, as I know Havlat isn't the most popular player there, but Higgins is about the only piece coming back they'd want. I don't think this flies on their end, but if it does, great, I'm in, and I love Higgins.
Maybe Booth+Higgins for Havlat+conditional pick on games played? |
San Jose would likely be the last team in the entire league that would want Ballard.
|
Not a chance from the Sharks.
|
No way. Havlat's return from injury changed the complexion of this team and gives us the speed that we desperately need in our top 6.
Ballard basically has negative value for us because of his salary. Don't mind Higgins but we're not trading top 6 wingers for him. |
no chance....
but what about boyle and clowe for edler and hansen? |

ballard is decent for a team that needs a 2nd pairing left side hip checker
|
No thanks from SJ look what happend when he came back from his injury. It sparked our guys up.
|
Quantity for quality, without addressing team needs for SJ.
|
Booth Raymond and 1st for Marleau?

As for the OP, no way from SJ. We don't need Ballard, we don't want your late 2nd, and it's a huge downgrade from Havlat to Higgins. |
Kindly, no.
|
Sharks get hosed. Clowe would be a better fit in Van whats the asking price?

I'd do Booth and Raymond, with the inclusion of a 2nd for San Jose's third. Clowe and Havlat for (Edit: Stupid proposal) |
