Ok what would you be looking at in terms of value ie certain players back.

I'm not an Avs fan, but I'm pretty sure that if you are asking for Duchene, they are asking for a (resigned) Kessel, probably with pieces added on one or both sides.

I'd like to hang on to Duchene and see what he develops into.

TMLFC 12-17-2012 12:42 PM

Leafs aren't in the position to acquire someone like Duchene or in HF teams - Leaf fans aren't in the position to persuade the Avs fans with our 'junk'.:handclap:

Freudian 12-17-2012 01:03 PM

Avs let Liles go because they didn't want him on a retirement contract.

I don't think there is much need for someone like Blacker with Barrie/Elliott in the AHL.

While JvR and Kadri are young and have a certain amount of skill, I'm not sure they are the player types Avs would be looking to add if they wanted to add.

Value is fine but I'm not sure anyone could argue Avs would be a better team now or in the future, should they do a trade like this.

Don't forget though, Duchene likes country music, so that does lessen his overall value.

Avs44 12-17-2012 01:43 PM

od.

Oh, good job OP for creating something original. No, seriously, what is your guys infatuation with our centers? Is this some sort of plot to make Avs fans so annoyed that they finally say yes?

The Avs certainly don't want Liles back. You can keep him. I really like JVR, but he still is far to unproven. I know people will say Duchene is unproven, but the fact remains JVR is a 23 year old 2nd overall pick, who has only hit 40 points once. I know he has the potential, but I think its to big a risk. Nor do we really need another winger badly enough to trade Duchene. Kadri..meh, not really a fan, but thats just my personal opinion. Other Avs fans might disagree. Not what the Avs really need. And then Blacker+3rd, which does not do much for us, since we already have Barrie/Elliot, and then the 2nd we add>the 3rd. Adding O'Bryne makes it worse. He is very underrated, but a very solid defensman. Basically this is a quality for quanity trade, which the Avs are not really interested in. We want a similiar young player with similiar potential in return if we trade on of our centers.

Are you saying GMs accept any trade based on value, and not on needs?

Theres a difference between the actual value of a player, and the value of the player to the team.

Would you want to give up a decent prospect for a 3rd/4th liner? Probably not, considering you have plentora of them. But since the trade would be equal value, you should accept? I love leaf logic.

A decent prospect for a 3rd/4th liner, haha no even if we were less on them. Also, 4th liners are waiting in UFA.
So your saying that because Stamkos is sent to Pittsburgh for Neal+1st, Pittsburgh shouldn't accept?

Apparently I have to spell everything out?

Sure, if you want to send us Kessel + Rielly for Duchene, obviously we won't say no. But anything barring an overpayment, nope.

IWantSakicAsMyGM 12-17-2012 04:02 PM

I would be interested in getting JVR to play with Duchene, as the Avs seem to be 1 top 6 LW away from rolling 3 scoring lines.

So, counter proposal.

This is clear lunacy on toronto's part, no matter how much avalanche values their center, this is a massive overpayment that we're not willing to pay.

Also folks I am getting really tired of seeing these threads only bashing fanbases and people's opinion, keep it clean.

MW6 12-17-2012 06:19 PM

In what order do Avs fans rank their centers?

And D-men? EJ, and then what? Hejda? Zanon? What are the projected D-pairs?

The Leafs have been lacking a #1 center for years, the Avs have 3 really good young centers. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out why Leafs fans would be interested in a trade between the two teams.

And no offense but nobody really cares if fans say yes or not, it's not like it has any bearing on the real World. The point is... Well there isn't much point, it's just fun speculation and discussion for the sake of speculating and discussing. Leafs fans do not make these threads because they are desperate for the approval of Avs fans, they make these threads to discuss how the Leafs could potentially acquire a #1 center.

That's a tough one. For me Duchene is the clear front runner. ROR and Stastny are a significant step below Duchene in terms of value. I value ROR slightly more than Stastny because we have him somewhat cost controlled for the next 4 (?) years.

On defense... good lord. EJ and then a whole pile of #4 and below defensemen. Hejda is probably my #2; he's just too inconsistent to be used on the first-pairing. We're really counting on our prospects to fill in the other 3 top-4 spots. Barrie looks like he's not too far away from that. Everyone else is a ways out.
