CHI 2013 1st + Saad + McNeil + Tuevo

...just out of curiosity.

Oh and since the 1st is going to be unknown as far as when the Hawks will be picking, lets split it up into categories...

Top 5 1st + Saad + McNeil + Tuevo

Top 10 1st + Saad + McNeil + Tuevo

Top 20 1st + Saad + McNeil + Tuevo

21-30th 1st + Saad + McNeil + Tuevo

Now way the Black haws get a top 15 draft. They would really have to suck.

Either way, i bet that package gets you something real good like Getzlaf.

xX Hot Fuss 12-17-2012 02:32 PM

If/when there's no season, the 2013 draft is chosen at random no?

digdug41982 12-17-2012 02:33 PM

It would have to be big, something like Hanzal and Yandle.

Not entirely. It has to do with how many 1st overall picks and playoff appearance over the past 4 or 3 years, respectively, your team has had. If none of the above, then you have 3 balls in a lottery. If 1 of the above, you have two. If 2 or more, you have one. This, at least, was the formula for the last post-lockout draft

xX Hot Fuss 12-17-2012 02:40 PM

Right but the amount of balls only increases the odds of a better pick. Technically the Hawks could pick 1st overall due to chance. Which is why i split up the package into 4 different packages with different 1st rounders.

Step 1: Identify team need(s)
Step 2: Identify team who is just starting a rebuild
Step 3: Identify player(s) on said team that fit team needs
Step 4: Commence haggling

1)centre

2)Montreal

3)Pleks

4) start with Teuvo.

Well thats just the thing, if that 1st rounder is top 10 or top 5, "Needs" are totally negated IMO. Top 10 pick + 3 really good prospects i.e. the Hawks entire future, "needs" aren't really important there. Personally i'd want the best player/package we can get. Even if thats another 1st pairing Dman or top 6 forward, positions which the Hawks are totally set in.

Teams that need a rebuild though...

Anaheim (maybe), Calgary, Colorado could use some forward prospects, Montreal, New Jersey, Phoenix, Tampa, and Winnipeg could use some forward prospects, San Jose (maybe).

F l a m e s 12-17-2012 02:58 PM

Any of those packages is going to land you something big. I'm assuming you would want to land a really good number 2C + a good 3/4 Dman. (probably a goalie too).

The Flames could only meet two of the mentioned needs... Giordano & Kipper. Probably not good trading partners... I'd assume the Hawks would want a younger goalie. Giordano would make the hawks top 4 the best in the league, but not at that price.

Marvelous Manked 12-17-2012 03:02 PM

If it was the Top 5 pick, I'd trade Spezza for that package.

But the Hawks probably wouldn't.

Colorado needs a rebuild? New Jersey?

Only ones I see is Montreal and Tampa out of that list that would might be willing to give up a 2C + 3/4 D for that.

Technically, our only top 4 dman are Markov (blackhawks wouldn't want for what he would cost), Subban and Gorges.

Those 3 aren't being moved.

Plekance/Desharnais (I think he is a number 2 guy others might disagree) could be had for sure.

So, even at that, Montreal doesn't have what is required for that package.

Unless you want Plekanec/Desharnais +Emelin/Diaz....

Top 10 first + that package should land the Hawks something very nice. Plekanec isn't very nice in that sense.

I have to add that Hossa and Plekanec on a line together would be sick.

As much as I agree we need to get some new youth in the Devils, LL will never rebuild as long as he is GM

TurdFerguson 12-17-2012 04:51 PM

I don't think anyone who is worth that package would be very cap friendly to us, we need our young, cheap players to take some roster spots.

And here's to hoping we get a top 5 pick in the event that the season is lost.

Thanks tips.

Wish the leafs could offer something for those trades but it's unlikely as we would lose out prolly only on kessel.

Phoenix needs to rebuild?

zytz 12-17-2012 06:56 PM

Kesler, luongo to start

TheJuxtaposer 12-17-2012 08:57 PM

If the pick were top-10, I'd send out Pavelski+ for the package.

(Also, it's Teuvo, not Tuevo).

Because of salary maybe, but come on Spezza is a beast and easily worth a package of 3 solid prospects and a high first.

Richiebottles 12-17-2012 09:16 PM

Pleks+ Beaulieu + Emelin ?
