Billy Beane special right here.

I don't expect him to put up the hitting numbers he did in Japan, but his glove is better than anything they have in the system and much better than Stephen Drew.

6.5 for 2 years with a club option for a 3rd at 5.5

They say exactly the same things for Nishioka.

The same "they" who said Yoenis Cespedes couldn't hit major league pitching?

Needless to say you never know what you're going to get with the international signings.

If I were an A's fan I'd be more comfortable with this than I would be with giving Drew the one-year deal he got from Boston.

Pretty much. The hitting is the question mark with this guy, but range and arm don't get effected by moving to another league and by all reports, this guy is a very good fielder.

Knowing beane this should work out perfectly

Saw this coming a mile away. Hopefully we get to see the bat flip over here

I've read concerns about his range/arm but I'm happy with the gamble. Better than anything else we have.

Really? I've read the exact opposite (about his fielding). Of course it was a month ago on another messageboard, so we'll see I guess.

Just reading this:

Some rival evaluators on HIroyuki Nakajima, who is signing with Oakland: They think he's got ability, but not as a full-time everyday guy.

Some teams have wondered if Nakajima can play shortstop in the majors. But OAK needs a shortstop and Nakajima represents best FA solution.
Obviously I've never seen him play, so I have no clue.

i'd rather have drew on a one year contract than an unknown on a two year contract.

Tuggy 12-19-2012 02:24 PM

I want Aledmis Diaz next then move Nakajima to second base.

It's in Japanese but either watch it or skip to the minute mark and then watch it.

Apparently later on, Beane said, "Well we think Nakajima is sexy and cool as well."
