kresco 12-18-2012 07:21 PM

Calgary - Washington

Calgary gives:

Glencross
Stajan
2014 2nd

Washington gives:
M Johansson

Washington gets:
A very cheap cheap very good LW for their 2nd line who has put up 40-50 pts on a team with low offense. He is a guy who works hard every night he skates hits and scores he is also great on the pk. He has a NTC and has a ranch here but I think he would consider playing with ovi and co on a contender. They get Stajan who was in the dog house last year buried on the 4th line but is very able to put up at least 30 points.

Flames get a great C prospect in Johansson. He had a good year last year and will end up as a decent #1 c or a great #2 C

Prairie Habs 12-18-2012 07:23 PM

Washington hangs up immediately and Montreal has Calgary's 2nd this year.

I hate to use this line, because is so often overdone, but man:

This is the worst trade proposal I've ever seen here.

hlaverty06 12-18-2012 07:43 PM

Flames need to face it and have to rebuild. But through fair trades..

They are rebuilding, just not in the form of shooting for last place.

hlaverty06 12-18-2012 07:44 PM

... Dennis Wideman for 5 years....

Calgary is not doing a tear it down style rebuild. They are changing the type of player they draft and put under contract. They've had great success lately with their drafts. Dennis Wideman has yet to play a game for the Flames, and you've already declared the move a failure.

capitalsrock 12-18-2012 08:49 PM

In terms of value it's not even close and I can not possibly ever describe how completely lopsided this trade is. I don't want another infraction for doing absolutely nothing but arguing, but words can not describe how lopsided this is.

Gotta love proposals where one team gives up the two most valuable players in the deal for a bunch of lesser pieces that don't fit any of their needs.

Yea, we're just dying to have Brodie to play in the AHL and would love to have Stajan's contract on the fourth line :sarcasm:

avsman 12-18-2012 08:58 PM

No. No no no no no. NO. Seriously did you take anything into mind when coming up with this proposal? It fills zero needs for the caps, in fact I'd argue it creates holes, as well as the value is not close at all

CapitalsCupFantasy 12-18-2012 09:47 PM

Washington vomits, hangs up.

Roo Mad Bro 12-18-2012 09:58 PM

Cot damn is this awful for the Capitals.

Baerstchi has to be included to get Carlson IMO.

Backlund 12-18-2012 10:04 PM

Doesn't make sense for Washington. Calgary bends them over in this trade.

kresco 12-18-2012 11:40 PM

But Washington agreed to it in NHL 2012 on PS3!
Sorry i guess it was a little one sided I modified this hopefully it is a little more realistic.

Lol NHL 12 doesn't mean a thing and it's definitely more realistic now.

Carlzner 12-18-2012 11:45 PM

Wow... what was the original proposal?

You can easily find those vets any offseason.

All the mentoring in the world won't help you if your younger guys are average.

not saying it will, dont act like i did.

something to keep in mind is we only have gio and widemen signed long term on D, jbo is almost done and unless he turns it around i doubt we'll resign him

AND why would we look in any other off season when we found one this past offseason?

Devilspuppet666 12-19-2012 12:30 AM

to the OP i would have no interest in trading glencross i dont care much for johansson tbh

Brave Sir Robin 12-19-2012 12:36 AM

Most non-Caps fans think we're desperate for wingers, which is not true. Johansson can play top 6 wing (and has in the past), so there is no reason to trade him for a winger. Furthermore, Johansson is our only long term 2C option, while we have a couple promising winger prospects.

sully1410 12-19-2012 02:37 AM

I don't get this place. Hey that guy looks good. Prolly be a star player some day...I'll trade you my left over **** for him k?

You have to give value to get it.

But hey, if being a GM was easy...we'd all be one.
