Arlington, MA pick up hockey

Hey guys and girls,

I've been playing pick up hockey in Arlington, Ma for the past two weeks with a fairly good turnout so far (7v7). It's $5 for two hours from 11:45a-1:45p. Cheapest in MA I think. Anyways, for these two weeks we haven't had any goalies so we've had to play three post and sometimes pond hockey style rules. I'm not complaining but we could use a goalie.

Any of you goalies available for even one hour to come and get a good workout and skate in?

neldogger 12-20-2012 11:08 PM

what day?

SCBruCrew4 12-21-2012 01:13 AM

Thursdays. Sorry forgot to mention that. Again it's annually Thursday's 11:45am to 1:45pm. $5. Can't beat it.

That's a wicked good price! Wish I had those hours available. Anyone know of some other pickup hockey in the Boston area? I've seen some times/places around, but a lot of them are like $25 for 50 minutes.

Any better values out there? I'm dying to play.:help:

Jesarino

perfect for you to go down and skate

Hey ScuCrew
how is the talent level?

just join the mass skaters list...$20 tends to be the max

I dont want to start a new thread but, I recently purchased a car and am now able to drive to a rink instead of stuck at one on the T. Any reccomendations on a good beginners league (and i do mean beginners). It would be perfect if they had a coach or something to instruct a little bit while you play.

try Hockey Academy or Hockey North America

google search it too.

I know of a few skates that do this in the area (instruction then scirmmage)

Some of the best times of my youth were spent at that rink on Summer St.

A bud of mine used to drive the zamboni there in the late 70s. After public skating was over we'd show up and he'd let us in under the cover of darkness. We'd play all night long for free.

Good times

:)

I'm a goalie. I'd be down. I might show up next week.

Richard Murray 12-21-2012 01:53 PM

Although looks like on the website that there is no stick and puck next week.

Play at Spy Pond. It's free. :) Of course you may have to wait a bit on Mother Nature.

Hey ScuCrew
how is the talent level?

The talent is all over. But for the most part it's pretty good. There has been a couple skaters who came and looked like it was their first game they played, but it didn't really mess with the flow of the game due to the guys generally being good guys. I'd say 7 out of the 14 I've skated with have some really good talent and can make it a workout to be on the ice.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I overheard some of the guys saying there's no game this week. :(

Richie

If you plan on going down this thursday(1/3) let me know. Would rather shoot on a goalie for some of the time. Still breaking in new skates so I may only skate for an hour

Richard Murray 01-02-2013 12:39 PM

I don't have to work at the Herald tomorrow, so I will deff be there. See you guys tomorrow.

Richard Murray 01-09-2013 11:13 PM

Not sure if anyone is going or not, but I wont be able to make it this week. I have to do some interviews. Bill can't do the Bruins prospect report for the AHL guys, so I have my hands full doing that and a million other things haha.

I'll see you guys next week.

SCBruCrew4 01-23-2013 08:30 AM

Richard Murray 01-23-2013 02:01 PM

reidy 01-23-2013 02:45 PM

Anybody want to organize an HF Boards skate? I'm back in the saddle so to speak, skating on Thursday nights and would love the opportunity to hit the ice with some of HF's finest again.

If your available tomorrow swing by this skate. I am going and possibly Zylos. It's only $5 for the two hour block which is amazing really. Pretty good skate for the price your paying.

422 Summer St in Arlington is the address.
