Through 15 weeks: Snaps/sacks/hits/hurries

McClellin 299/3/4/18
Mercilus 391/6/1/13
Jones 658/6/8/23

To normalize it if they all got the same amount of snaps (1000)

McClellin 10/13.5/60
Mercilus 15/2.5/33
Jones 9/12/35

McClellin's biggest limiting factor this season has been his lack of snaps.

Blackhawkswincup 12-21-2012 05:56 PM

Reason McClellin gets less snaps then others is unlike those 2 ,, He cant play against the run

McClellin has been utter failure vs Run ,, Even Mark Anderson as a rookie was better vs Run

Jones/Mercilus are every down defenders ,, Jones as I said at draft is another Peppers in style

Guy will be beast for longtime in NFL

Truly sad that a 19th overall pick has been so brutal that he went from gifted starting job in camp to 4th string

Good thing Bears brought back Idonije and Wootton broke out ,, With McClellin as our #2 option all year the Bears would have struggled to win a game

I'll be there on Sunday. Going to be awesome. Let's hope for a win!

Who is the Cards starting QB this weekend?

IU Hawks fan 12-21-2012 06:16 PM

#14..

Jones doesn't have Peppers and Idonije in front of him...the plan all along has been for McClellin to get 20-30 snaps a game. Not sure how he was "gifted" a starting job when Izzy has always been the starter.

McClellin going into camp was made starter opposite Peppers ,, he is now the #4 DE option

19th overall picks should be better then struggling #4 DE option

He isn't even good enough to play any snaps in NFL at this point ,, He has been pathetic almost entire season

Gootie 12-21-2012 06:44 PM

He was never the starting left end, not sure where you're getting that from.

In the OTA's the talk was McClellin would play big role as primary DE on passing downs opposite Peppers

In reality Wootton has overtaken Idonije and McClellin has taken a seat on bench

Blackhawkswincup 12-21-2012 06:52 PM

At least it appears Melton will be back this week

The Bears DL was getting absolutely no pressure up middle without him last week

Big role on passing downs = nickel rusher.

In reality Shea has been out with concussions for the majority of the past month or so.

I thought I read something today that said he was doubtful. Hopefully he can go though.

Oh ,, I figured since the media was asking him about Cards QB that he was a go

Seemed pointless to ask a player who wont play

Blackhawkswincup 12-21-2012 08:15 PM

Darn your right

Melton - Doubtful
Constanza - Questionable
Jennings - Questionable
Bennett - Questionable

RT Jonathan Scott = Out

Carimi back at RT = :(

Hayes and McClellin will be back

He has been mostly MIA since week 2

Is it all concussions fault?

He doesn't play every down like Jones, however he's missed about 3.5 games with injuries this year which is a reason for disparity.

Shea has actually been good vs the run this year in his limited opportunities. He'll never be an edge setting anchor, but that's not why they drafted him. To say Mark Anderson was better as a rookie just shows your ignorance again. In 64 games with the Bears, Anderson had 0 tackles for loss. 0. Mcclellin has 3 in his first 11.5 games.

Also, Mcclellin was never seen as the starting end. Go back to the preseason, I don't believe he started any of the first 3 games. He was brought into be a situational pass rusher like Irvin in Seattle

Sure ,, And Devin Hester has been good in pass attack this year :shakehead

Illinihockey 12-21-2012 08:25 PM

Jennings is expected to go

You are proffering he's bad against the run. Do you have proof?

The concussion part was in response to you saying Shea was pushed to the bench...Wootton has been getting more snaps (rightfully so) but Shea has been out the last four or five games except for Seattle.

I do, I'm not sure you do. He's only been out there for a handful of running plays and has 4 tfl's less than Jones.
