One of The Hardest Hits Ever?

I just saw this but the hit starting at 0:19 by Cory Sarich. Holy smokes.

Machinehead 12-22-2012 01:57 AM

I still say this the best I've seen. Rumor has it Danielle Paille still can't feel his butt.

superhakan 12-22-2012 01:59 AM

Not even the hardest by Cory Sarich

NVM, didnt realize this was the hit you were talking about.

are you serious? it was cool looking and Paille went flying but seriously not even close to the best hit ever haha

also its cute that you called him Danielle. He is the most balls-to-the-wall player on the Bruins haha. He took a shot off the face, was back grinding it out a few games later

Would you believe I legit didn't even mean to?

Just a brainfart there on my part. I like Paille. He's a tough customer.

MSPGabe 12-22-2012 02:45 AM

This is my favorite hit ever. I don't care that it's against Boychuk. Clean hit, and Boychuk just hits a wall. Brutal.

Duodenum 12-22-2012 03:18 AM

I've always been a fan of Pronger's hit on Cleary. Not the hardest but certainly aesthetically pleasing:

Yeah this is just a fantastic hit, also it is funny seeing the join dates coinciding with the posted videos.

the most recent I loved (hated seeing as a winger) was Campbell on Umberger in the playoffs

It only took one of those hits to teach me when I was younger, I can't imagine how that felt in NHL speeds.

RussianShark 12-22-2012 04:10 AM

Gotta love a perfect hip check.

Now those are nice hipchecks! I truly hate the Keith Ballard table-top style no matter how effective it is at injuring/taking the man out of the play. Props to his junior coach, perfect form to not only destroy the guy but prevent him from making any realistic maneuver with the puck. A hit like that won't end a career but it costs you and teaches a future lesson.

Lexus 12-22-2012 04:53 AM

This one for me. (much better quality than the one previously posted)

Lexus 12-22-2012 05:04 AM

Some more that comes to mind.

Here's a version with much, much better quality of that first Sarich hit the OP posted btw.

MasterDecoy 12-22-2012 05:07 AM

I like kostitsyn on lucic, especially because, you know, it's lucic...

Lindros demolished a few people in his time

Totally agree, it was a beautiful hit. Sincerely, I don't think he deserved a penalty on that hit. Great shoulder to shoulder hit, and Lucic had JUST given the puck away so I don't think it was late at all... Just beautiful.

There's plenty of players who have taken shots to the face and are right back in the game. Don't just glorify Dan Paille.

Bougieman 12-22-2012 09:19 AM

Clearly I'm a pretty big fan of this hit, seeing as I've been using it as my avatar for the last year and a half:

LOOOVE IT

Gotta give McGinn credit, though! He pops right back up! ^_^

That's the best you've seen? Poor guy.

It's barely even a hit.

Yeah, with that hit you have two big husky guys who are always the first to get back on their feet to prove they didn't feel it, and they're both completely floored by the impact. The energy transfer into both their bodies must have been at a car-crash level.

ponder 12-22-2012 12:16 PM

This one isn't as hard/nice as some of the hits already posted, but I really like it anyway:

I love the angle it's shot from, you can see Ruutu coming in dangling back and forth, but Ovy doesn't bite at all, just steps up and wrecks him.

As a Leafs fan, this was a nice one from the start of last season, very Scott Stevens-esque:
