2013 WJC Preview: Injury, illness hinder Sweden's chances of golden repeat
Surely few can forget how Ottawa Senators prospect Mika Zibanejad broke in alone on Team Russia’s net in overtime of the 2012 WJC, deking out Russian goalie Andrey Makarov to decide the tournament in Sweden’s favor for the first time since 1981. It’s not something viewers will see this year, however, as Zibanejad is one of a number of highly touted Swedish prospects who’ll be missing this tournament due to illness or injury.

We lost the best player for us last season, and the one who scored the game/gold winning goal in the final, Zibanejad.
We lost Brodin, who would surely be the best defenceman in the WJC if he had played, and our second best defenceman in Klefbom. Now it seems like Lindholm is out too.
Also Max Görtz who would've been a really important player to this team with his physique and leadership.
Then we have the obligatory cheap shot and season-ending (yeah, I know) injury when facing Canada in a pre-tournament exhibition game (Jesper Pettersson).
