Lipon gets one game

I think this is reasonable considering other decisions.

Canada4Gold 12-29-2012 01:04 AM

deserved, doubt we'll miss him much though

SenzZen 12-29-2012 01:10 AM

I'd have been fine with longer.

Stupid selfish play.

Leo Trollmarov 12-29-2012 01:12 AM

Not surprised, figured it would have been longer since he connected his elbow to the guys dome

H44 12-29-2012 01:15 AM

This suspension is fair. You can't do this in the CHL - you definitely can't do this in IIHF competitions. Canada needs to play under control - keep their emotions in check. If they use their skill they can compete with any team. Maybe this also helps Nate get more ice time.

Except we will be down to 11 forwards.

11 forwards who routinely play 20+ minutes each on their home clubs. It shouldn't be an issue.

Killahpunk 12-29-2012 01:42 AM

I was expecting worse.

Indeed Stefan Noesen is missing the entire tournament for a hit like this in the OHL.

Statsy 12-29-2012 08:22 AM

Exactly. He's lucky this wasn't the OHL which is far and away the league that takes head shots the most seriously. However, Canada will not only survive playing short, it might be to their benefit. As was already mentioned, these guys are horses for their CHL teams and carry heavy minutes. And Nate has been seriously under used in this tournament so far.

Zybalto 12-29-2012 08:38 AM

No problem with a game for the hit but the lack of consistency with Rapac not even getting looked at for the equally brutal knee (which he only got 2 minutes for) is bizarre.

Going to be more diving and playing dead due to decisions like this.

Routinely play 20+ minutes with linemates they are familiar with, in a system they are comfortable in. Not one of these kids is in Ufa undeservingly, all are talented and the absence of any of them will have an impact, against a team like the Slovaks/Germany/Switzerland with all due respect, that impact may be felt less, we`ll see when they face an exceptionally good USA team etc...

Maybe 10??

@markhmasters: Brett Ritchie (maintenance day) not taking part in Canada's practice

They shouldn't have taken him if he was injured.

Some will state he won`t be missed either:sarcasm: (won`t be me though)

Not good, each player there has a role, matters not if it`s a 4th liner out or 1st, it will have an impact, going to be tough for them to match stronger skilled nations if they are down to 10 if Ritchie can`t go

Spot has made some bad decisions he should have replaced Jenner after he got the 3 games suspensions and he should have replaced ritchy knowing he was not 100%. This is a very short tournament and you need to be at 100% in case of suspensions and injuries during the tournament. As is the case now. Hockey Canada ********d on this years team. There should be a change at the top of hockey Canada.

I wasn't. I thought it was fair and consistent.

Maybe it is for the best but I worry about them be tired for the Russians. The schedule makers didn't do Canada any favours - conspiracy anyone?
Altho, it looks like we may have 3 fresh bodies back for the Russian game so...

One step at a time. Beat the Americans first.

Acallabeth 12-29-2012 11:23 AM

Ha, 1 game, Shalunov's cross-check shouldn't have been a penalty if this is 1 game

if we're tired in the round robin, we don't deserve a medal.

Excluding Murray, Hudon is missed more imo considering all the penalties Canada has been taking. Hudon is more disciplined than Jenner and a great pker. Overall Jenner > Hudon but I think Hudon would've contributed more in this tourney imo.

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. I have not been impressed by the kid at all.

That said, I think it was a hit to the head followed by an embellishment with the kid lying there like he was about to die (but then returning miraculously a few seconds later to score a pp goal), so one game is enough.

And yes, I know Canadians are embellishing as well. I hate all of it.

They are are on the exact same scale and deserve the same punishment. If the Slovak player didn't lay there long enough that they started planning his funeral I doubt he would have even been kicked out.

I`m fine with the suspension though, you gotta keep your elbows down.

He did not get kicked out. He got a double minor.
