Oilers vs Wings in the playoffs today!!??

Who wins a 7 game playoff series between Edmonton and Detroit?

Sojourn 12-29-2012 03:41 AM

Detroit. Edmonton doesn't have the depth, experience, or the grit. Relying on kids to carry you in a 7 game series isn't going to get you anywhere.

Finlandia WOAT 12-29-2012 03:41 AM

Trick question: an Oilers- Red Wings series right now would go nowhere near 7 games.

they have the stamina one could argue.

Almost makes me want to track down the pissing contest that spawned this poll.

Almost.

lakai17 12-29-2012 03:45 AM

That's great, if you're expecting Miracle on Ice, but we're talking about a playoff series. Detroit is the better team at even strength. The only way Edmonton would stand a chance is if Detroit is just too undisciplined, and they give Edmonton the opportunity to let their PP carry the way. Unlikely.

You're reaching. Tootoo isn't going to lose a playoff series on his own.

It's pretty simple: Edmonton just isn't good enough at even strength. With the PP they had, and a PK that had them in the top half of the league, they were still one of the worst teams in the league. Until Edmonton can win games at even strength, they aren't going to win a playoff series. If they can't do it during the regular season, what hope do they have in the playoffs when games get tougher, more defense-oriented, and there are fewer penalties?

Edmonton has a good future, but they aren't there yet, and the team they have just isn't built for playoff hockey. It's more the anti-playoff team right now.

Sky04 12-29-2012 04:24 AM

Detriot ANIEC, surprised this was made by an OilerFan.

Mafoofoo 12-29-2012 04:32 AM

Detroit would win in 4-5 games pretty easily.

Randy BoBandy 12-29-2012 05:11 AM

Another Oiler fan overrating his team and prospects what do you know  You have zero defense or goalie. Which means you aren't even close to being a playoff team not to mention going 7 games deep with Detroit. Get this crap out of here

PhillyBluesFan 12-29-2012 05:30 AM

Detroit would sweep

OilForFood 12-29-2012 05:35 AM

Lol...that is what everyone said in 06.

Not saying Edmonton would win, but anything can happen.

Note: voted Detroit

Edmonton would forfeit after 2 games. Yakupov would tell the media afterwards that Detroit was mean for scoring so many times.

Sky04 12-29-2012 05:56 AM

Oilers would have to make the playoffs first ;)

skip2mybordeleau 12-29-2012 06:49 AM

wings in 4, maybe edm sneaks 1 out.

Oilers had a more experienced team back then. Pronger, Smyth, Rolo was running hot throughout the playoffs. Edmonton simply doesn't have that now, and wouldn't stand a chance.

lboogie42* 12-29-2012 08:23 AM

is this really even a question? detroit

Detroit and Detroit

Wingsfan2965* 12-29-2012 10:07 AM

Is this a trick question?

Edmonton is going to be a huge contender in the future. Currently? For as bad as everybody seems to think Detroit's defense is, Edmonton's is far worse. Not to mention Detroit has a good goalie, offensive depth, and experience.

Detroit in five. The kids would get a win.

EchoesoftheEighties 12-29-2012 10:11 AM

:facepalm::facepalm: The views expressed in the OP are not necessarily the views of all Oiler fans. Or like..any. Detroit easily.

Wingsfan2965* 12-29-2012 10:14 AM

I'm very interested to read this thread that sparked the poll. Link anybody?
