Stranger things have happened in hockey. But I cannot see this team emerging from this slump.

To be honest aside from a weak Germany they've scraped their way to reach the semifinals.

Go USA!

You say this as if you would have been cheering for Canada otherwise...

Grigorenko and Kucherov has been the best player by far on this Russian team.

I don't hate the Russians as much as I hate the US, lol.

I cheer for Switzerland because I've always loved them for some reason. Always cheer for them.

PG Canuck 01-02-2013 09:59 AM

Should be some great games to decide who goes to the finals. Nothin like some big rivalries to determine who goes.

mindfly 01-02-2013 09:59 AM

It's a joke that Nail "I'm not Russian" Yakupov gets the C as well.. Kucherov or someone else should have it

i dont agree, swedes will beat us pretty easily, but will lose in finals to NA team, which is norm for them.

He (Nichushkin)has been missed that is for sure. And he'll be fresh as well.

come on he is 17 , yes it was a dirty hit and a very silly one but he is a very promising player. And maybe , maybe he will show the other side against Sweden

Slepyshev was good today too, good speed and one one one skills. Typical Russian forward.

Russia didn't play like a team at all today, Sweden haven't been that great either but I still take them as favorites.

This. Except its not just Russians. Americans, Swedes etc. all treat Canada the same.

Kurtz 01-02-2013 10:02 AM

Swiss, all about the tie with them.

How very...neutral.

Lol

Russia the underdog?

Sweden was a distant 4th to win whilst Russia were favoured.

Big difference.

What are you talking about? "pretty easily". It's not like they have been steamrolling every opponent. Last time I checked they were almost defeated by the same Swiss team

Well then you sir are a rare breed because as a Canadian I see almost nothing but hate coming from most Russian posters.

Slimmy 01-02-2013 10:04 AM

Would much rather have faced the Swiss. They would have been completely out of steam and Sweden wouldn't allow them to bring down the pace like they did the first game. The Russians are in the tournament for real now. This is exactly the squeak by win they needed to get comfortable and take the pressure off being the home team. It's going to be real close, whoever wins.

He is trying too hard to be the man and not the team player. He want's to live up to his superstar billing.

At the moment he is anonymous and likely to remain so. Having a coach like Varnakov doesn't help either.

Oilers fans need not worry when he turns up to camp this summer as he'll have a proper coaching staff to knock him into shape.
