Plekanec or Desharnais

looking for a top 6 winger with size (preferably left winger)
or prospects and picks

whats out there? who has the needs and the assets?

Chacal667 01-03-2013 06:05 PM

i'm not sure if u can get a first pick for desharnais, it would be stupid to trade a first line center for a second choice, plek have a lot more value.

We can get a better deal from Chicago. Nice try, but no thanks.

On multiple threads I have been able to get a trade around Plekanec and a 3rd for Saad, Jimmy Hayes, and a 1st (Both picks from the 2013 draft).

Chicago gets the 2nd line center they need (and who would be amazing with Hossa on the PK!!!), while Montreal gets the LW with size and skill, and the RW with size and toughness and some skill, that they need.

Of course, that deal was with the 70 million cap. With the cap going down to 60 million, the deal would have to be adjusted to include some salary going the other way. It is why something around Saad, Jimmy Hayes and Hjalmarsson for Plekanec, Weber, and a 2nd might have to be worked around.

I love Plek, but it seems like he is going to be the one out, maybe not this year, but when Gally is ready. But I hope he gets moved to the Hawks, always liked that team.

I still don't see any rush. Habs need them all for now, let's see how they build their value while we wait to see if Galchenyuk and/or Eller can even displace them.

I wouldn't do that. Some habs fans might.

I definitely wouldn't. Eller is a good two way centreman with offensive potential, and has shown flashes of brilliance. Kassian is a winger would could turn out the next Lucic, but could also end up a bust. Not worth the risk IMO.

I wouldn't either. I'm probably not as big an Eller fan as most Habs fans... or maybe rather more cautious about his odds of emerging into the player we hope he can be... but I'd take my chances on that before going the Kassian route. Our team needs to ride things out with Eller's development... he could make such a difference if he fully realizes his potential. Whereas I think Kassian is a more known commodity, confined to a narrower role/set of expectations. :dunno:

Habs should and would say no. As a Canucks fan I'm pretty tempted, but I think I would also decline.

I like it but, why we can't just keep plek and put gally (hossa version 2.0) at his left ?
