FC's Eligibles of the Month - December
December's forward honour went to Bo Horvat, who narrowly edged out Jonathan Drouin:

In 11 December games, the Rodney, ON product found the back of the net eight times and assisted on seven more for 15 points and extended his point streak to 12 games. Heading into the month, Horvat had 10 goals and 18 points in 28 games and now sits at 18 goals and 33 points in 39 games this season.

Defense honors went to Seth Jones, who split his December with the Portland Winterhawks and Team USA:

Jones put together an impressive holiday season. As a member of Team USA, the Plano, TX product had two points in three games in round robin action.

And of course, the goaltending nod went to Zachary Fucale.

As good of thread as any to highlight some players performing particularly well in each region, starting with what's going on in US Prep action:

In terms of prep and high school hockey in the United States, the holiday season shares a similar function: many tournaments, some very high profile, bring together players, teams, and scouts in one place although we are just approaching the midway point of the hockey season.

Some OHL action to sink your teeth into.

December marked the final opportunity of Ontario Hockey League draft eligibles to impress in 2012 as the 2013 NHL Draft approaches.

And with the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game nearing, players are now in mid-season form and looking to impress.

As the OHL nears the half way mark of this season, it is a good time to look at a few players who will be hoping to impress the scouts on January 16th. These players have also been big parts of their individual team’s success so far this season.

WHL update:

The month December was highlighted by a few key performances by big name prospects from the Western Hockey League.

Perhaps none was under more scrutiny than Kamloops Blazers forward JC Lipon, who was able to represent Team Canada at the World Junior Championship.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:21 PM.
