Best Coach at World Junior Championship
 

If the IIHF had a coach-of-the-tournament award for the World Juniors, who would have won it this year?

Toss up between Housley and Ronnberg for me.

I thought that Slovakia got as much as they possibly could have from their somewhat rag tag bunch.

I liked the system that the Swiss played, definitely thought they had a chance to win every game despite not having the elite talent of many of the other countries.

Through about three games. Then they fell apart like an '82 Yugo.

Is this a serious question? After watching the way team USA was consistently looking for their A game and finally finding it in QF without resorting to run and gun style I guess Phil Housley is the only viable option in this questionaire.

Housley, he adapted the most and showed that he could get his players to excute a game plan that he had. He managed his roster well.

took the team to the gold medal after it look like they were falling apart right before the medal round.

Ronnberg was great again after leading Sweden to a gold medal last year, he was so close to going back to back.

And he did it with a rather average team.

For me Ronnberg did an amazing job.

Housley was good too but in the end he had better players.

Other coaches that did well with the players available to them were the Swiss and Slovak coaches.

Simpson, Rönnberg or Housley, anyone of those three would be good.

Voted for Simpson.

The U.S. was touted by many to be the best team. entering the tournament. Sweden was missing several of its top players. For Sweden to make it to the final under those circumstances led me to casting my vote for Ronnberg.

Housley for me. The way he got that defense going that quick was scary. It was obvious they picked up his prowess in a very short time.

Your AINEC is wrong, as Simpson deserves credit for what he did with a relatively underpowered Swiss team.

But Housley and Ronnberg were pretty damned good too.

Ronnberg surprised me this year with his team.

The answer is Ronnberg. Housley did a great job, but keep in mind that his roster was a LOT stronger than Swedens was. Ronnberg got the absolute most of the Swedes this year. Imagine USA without Jones, Trouba and McCabe. That's what Ronnberg had to deal with for Sweden..

I voted for Housley, but have changed my mind. Ronnberg has really elevated the level of play from the Swedish team, and he got them to the finals again this year without the same level of talent he had last year.

Didn't really watch enough of the Swiss games to have a fair opinion, but Simpson seems a good pick as well.

Can't help but laugh at the Sprott votes. I don't think he deserves the blame for the loss, but he certainly under-utilized his team and I don't think we'll be seeing him back next tournament.
