Pre read: Corey's line of thinking is a bit different don't be too surprised

Post read: Burakowsky seems a bit too high but I expected something crazier. I think Hartman put himself on the top 30 plateau. Also Mantha and Gauthier are too low.

maplehawk 01-06-2013 06:17 PM

I'll take issue with Zadorov being lower than 15th on any list, but other then that, I don't mind it.

Skip2myBordyloo 01-06-2013 06:18 PM

a pronman list that isn't a bit ridiculous ? had landeskog #13 as a final ranking if i remember correctly.

Dylbot 01-06-2013 06:20 PM

Interestering that there's the potential for guys from the same team to go 1-2. Has that ever happpened before?

Flames Fanatic 01-06-2013 06:42 PM

An interesting list for sure. I like Gauthier whose stock keeps rising and Hartman looked pretty good for team USA. Certainly wouldn't be upset if my team got him in the 2nd round.

dwanmaster* 01-06-2013 06:44 PM

Lol @ Seth jones being #3

Corey Pronman 01-06-2013 06:46 PM

Hey guys, as always I'll take and do by best to answer any questions you may have. Cheers

couture23 01-06-2013 06:46 PM

Do you really see Drouin as the better talent over Jones?

He has the potential to be a franchise d-man.

Loffer 01-06-2013 07:08 PM

Juuso Ikonen #29... interesting. You really think some team might gamble with him in? Very unlikely. He may go undrafted even, small and European. But I guess he will be a late round pick.

E. Oh you ranked him #21 earlier...wow.

Jones has all the tools without a doubt. Personally though Drouin had me hoping that if there wasn't a season the Flames would be lucky enough to grab him. Call it a prospect crush but Drouin to me reminds me of a better skating Danny Heatley, or even better, a Kovalchuk style player. That's an attractive prospect to many as well.

I just think many teams are still leery of taking defence so high IF, keyword IF there is still highly skilled forwards available as well, unless there is an organizational hole.

With all that said I still have Jones going 2nd on my list. I watched as many of the WJC games as my pvr could tape and I enjoyed what I saw from Jones. Him and Trouba were by far the best pairing in the tournament.

StrongIslanders90 01-06-2013 07:19 PM

He likes his Europeans....

Man If a team ends up with Nurse in the end of the first that would be a steal imo

hab 4ever 01-06-2013 07:22 PM

Where do you see Samuel Morin going?

With Mackinnon, Drouin, and Jones you really only get to lol when one of them is at 4 or lower at this point.

Petan at 42. Is he still rising and will a strong playoff help him become a threat for the 1st round?

CarvinSigX 01-06-2013 07:27 PM

I'm praying the Blues find a way to get Nichushkin...Or any highly skilled center prospect for that matter. LOL

w e l o s t b o y s 01-06-2013 07:27 PM

Zadorov drops 7 spots but he has nothing negative to say about him?

HockeySensible 01-06-2013 07:28 PM

I love Pronman's thoughts/values on players. I don't agree with Jones at #3, for instance, but I get why he has Drouin over him.

Breakfast of Champs 01-06-2013 07:50 PM

People aren't going to want to believe it, but Drouin is just simply that good. His skillset is just amazing, and he probably has the best hands out of the past 5 drafts.

A 17 year old playing top line for Canada in a lockout year in the WJC would usually be considered #1 overall without question.

Sweech 01-06-2013 07:54 PM

Actually for a Pronman list it's not as wonky as usual.

Corey, other than Nichushkin, who could you see as someone who has the possibility to fall, but get snagged up later for better value?

ReginKarlssonLehner 01-06-2013 07:57 PM

Excellent list. Keep an eye for Hagg to climb into the top 10 by the final rankings.

Mathletic 01-06-2013 08:02 PM

good list, one guy missing is Oliver Bjorkstrand. Just wondering why you don't have him in there somewhere.

I discuss this in the link I referenced in the intro. If the call is close from a talent perspective which I believe it is between Jones and the Halifax forwards, especially at the top of the draft, I always favor the forward. Dmen tend to be moderately larger risks due to the difficulty of the position as opposed to forwards who tend to be safer bets.

I don't think he's getting a lot of mainstream buzz, but I've talked to pro scouts who think that highly of him. Heck I heard from scouts last year who were really high on the kid.

I'd guess somewhere in the top 60-75, but could see someone really buying high on the tools. Elite physical game, good defense, skates well especially for his size, but I question his offensive upside.

I'm going to talk to some WHL based guys soon once the CBA news cools down to get a better read on Petan, but right now I'm really high on the skill set even with the size concerns. I wouldn't use a playoff performance to really move a player, it's about the large picture and what assets he brings to the table.

Didn't sour on him, more that I really liked other players. Hagg moved up, Erne moved up, Morrissey, Pulock, Mantha etc. If anything I've seen some improvement in his game since season began.

Thanks, I think?

I assume you used Nichushkin because of the transfer risk? If so then same logic could apply to Buchnevich and Slepyshev.

He was 1 of 10 players I cut at the end.

Sidney the Kidney 01-06-2013 08:09 PM

I think Kujawinski's going to make a slow climb up the rankings. He got off to a horrible start, goal scoring-wise, but has since snapped out of the funk. I believe he had 5 goals in the first 30 or so games, but has 5 since returning from the Christmas break.

At one point he looked like a potential first round pick. I think his goal scoring troubles contributed to his drop, but if his goal scoring continues to rebound, I think that one fear will be alleviated.

He still has to work on his foot speed, but he's got the potential, IMO, to be a similar player to someone like a Jordan Staal (offensively).
