1973-74 data available

Boxscores for the 1973-74 season are now availble at the Flyers History website :

http://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin/games.cgi

This season's goals are now added to the "goals scorer lists" page ( http://www.flyershistory.com=/cgi-bi...scorerlist.cgi) which lists goals scored in a player's career for the Flyers (for the seasons I have boxscores for).

As well if you go to an individual player's page, you can click on goals, assists or penalties for the 1973-74 season to get a one-by-one list of that stat.

These game summaries are based on newspapers, so they may not be 100% accurate and most games don't have the type if penalty (hooking, slashing, etc) specified.

I think an interesting debate would be "Which would have been the bigger upset: 1974 or 1987?" if the Flyers (and that is a big IF) beat Edmonton in Game 7.

In 1974, not many gave the Flyers a chance. They were a 7-year old franchise (at the time I think the Flyers had just one win in their history in Boston Garden) going against an Original Six team with Espo, Orr, etc.

Of course, the 3-1 comeback in 1987 against the Messier, Gretzky teams (and all their successes) would have been beyond amazing but the Bruins won Cups in 1970 and 1972 and the Flyers had little success prior to that Cup win. In 1987, the team had a similar nucleus from the 1985 Cup finalists.

I know many people don't remember, or weren't even born in 1974, but I think it would be an interesting comparison.
