Ryane Clowe to Edmonton?

Edmonton are very soft on the top 6.

What would be a fair swap for both clubs?

oilersfan11 01-07-2013 10:15 PM

It will probably take a lot.

Arrch 01-07-2013 10:19 PM

Not interested in anything you would be willing to give up.

AJ SF4L 01-07-2013 10:19 PM

I don't think there is a deal to be had. Edmonton wouldn't be willing at all to consider parting with one of Hall/Eberle/Nuge/Yakupov for Clowe, and San Jose probably isn't interested in anything else from the Oilers. The teams are just in completely different spots right now.

I'd do Gagner+, but I'm not sure if the Oilers would do that considering Clowe is an UFA next season.

Assuming the Sharks are going to try and compete, then I agree with this and the thread has no point.

Personally, I'd take futures for him. The Oilers first (presumably between 10 and 15) would be of particular interest.

(Also, *Ryane)

I was under the assumption Gagner only plays C. If he can be a winger too then that could work as well.

That was my consensus too. I don't see DW starting a full on rebuild yet. If the Sharks do decide to, then yeah, I could see the Oilers 1st being a starting point for San Jose.

I doubt they'd do Hemsky + Gagner... what would that take for San Jose to add?

DuckEatinShark 01-07-2013 11:12 PM

Clowe and Murray for Hemsky?

I think it's a bad time to trade Clowe. His value is at an all-time low. If there is a trade deadline this year (I have no idea), I want to wait until then to trade Clowe.

I'll get my people, to fax your people, the necessary paperwork to get this completed in a timely manner.

radoneagle 01-07-2013 11:24 PM

Edmonton would not be willing to part with young players to get Clowe and SJ doesn't need Hemsky or Horcoff. I don't see this working

magic school bus 01-07-2013 11:28 PM

Gagner for Clowe and Handzus.

If Clowe isn't traded before the season starts, I highly doubt that DW will trade him at the TDL (unless the Sharks are out of the playoff picture). You don't trade a Top-6 forward if your team is competitive, unless you're getting a better player back but what are the chances that's going to happen. Teams that will want Clowe (and Murray for that matter) want them because they are competing. If they are competing, they wouldn't trade their own Top-6 forward.

What is the likelihood of Clowe re-signing in San Jose? He is definitely the type of winger we are missing.

SJ hasn't had any problems trying to get players to re-sign, so unless he's traded I'd think Clowe is staying.

Very likely unless he is traded.

The better question is what is the likelihood of Clowe resigning in Edmonton if they traded for him

Give him the C and he'll probably re-sign.

TOGuy14 01-08-2013 08:46 AM

Edmonton is a tough team to make deals with.

They have about 5 pieces with extremely high value, but the rest of their roster is littered with essentially junk or players of little / no value.

The only real middle ground players they have are Gagner or MPS and Gagner hasn't grown much so far, and MPS is a big too unproven.

tony d 01-08-2013 09:01 AM

I think it'd take Sam Gagner, Jeff Petry and a 2013 2nd round pick

Domino11 01-08-2013 09:10 AM

I would do this deal in a heartbeat. Can't see the Sharks going for this though.

If I'm a Sharks fan I would hate you right now. Hemsky has got to be the most overrated trade piece on here, not from the Leafs.
