2013 Minnesota Wild News And Notes

http://2.cdn.nhle.com/wild/v2/ext/sp...NODATES-v2.gif

In this thread, I we will post news concerning the team throughout the 2012- 2013 season.

Victorious Secret 01-08-2013 08:20 PM

Will this be a strictly news thread similar to the Aeros/Solar Bears thread?

Could be a false alarm with this original blog. The Wild still is expected to open the 48-game regular season Jan. 19, but it may not be at home.

That will be a big disappointment to a lot of fans because Jan. 19 is Hockey Day Minnesota, but there is a chance now the Wild opens on the road. The schedule is still being developed and should be released once the players ratify the deal, which should be Saturday. But the Wild could very well open on the road Jan. 19 and at home Jan. 20.

The opponent may still be Colorado both nights.
Update: Wild schedule still being developed

More like the off-season thread or the 2011-2012 Wild one.

Victorious Secret 01-08-2013 08:23 PM

Gotcha big guy.

Yikes, I know injuries killed the team last season but I didn't remember it was this bad.

On a side note, the Wild were 8th in WC after 48 games last season. That's gotta be a positive thing for the upcoming short season, right?

TaLoN 01-09-2013 10:41 PM

According to Russo, who for the past day and a half had been saying the Wild would open on the road in Colorado... that is now back up in the air. The Wild are really fighting to get the league to accommodate a home game for Hockey Day Minnesota.

Today at Xcel Energy Center, captain Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley arrived to join the fray. Zenon Konopka was scheduled to arrive Wednesday and should be on the ice Thursday. So should Pierre-Marc Bouchard, who didn’t skate Wednesday.

The first line of Koivu, Heatley and Zach Parise looked real good, and you can read more about that in Thursday’s newspaper or on www.startribune.com/wild Wednesday night.

Good to hear they're at least trying. Return of NHL hockey on a Hockey Day in Minnesota would be great. Actually, it would be better than Christmas.

Jaykay 01-09-2013 10:45 PM

My birthday is on the 20th and has been hockey day in years past. It would've been a perfect one this year but hey, I won't complain.

This is the same front office that orchestrated the fireworks on the 4th of July. If they can bring both Suter and Parise here, I'm sure they can twist the league's arm to open here on the 19th.

Even the Wild's front office can go into beast-mode.

“@anyonebutDET: @Russostrib Is it still looking like Colorado in the opener?” Whole thing is up in the air again

@Russostrib hopefully #mnwild front office is arguing for the climax of Hockey Day in Minnesota actually BEING in Minnesota
Russo's response

@MNlady4WILD of course they are

Ohhhh! We so need a Fletcher image with glowing eyes for beast-mode!!!!

This one would work perfect for it!

so nothing changed with the divisions and conferences with the new cba? winnipeg in the east is just seriously... .. you know..

TaLoN 01-10-2013 08:16 AM

w00t! Russo says that it looks like the Wild won this fight, now he's saying the Wild open at home. No word who the opponent is...probably still vs Colorado would be my guess.

Looks like Hockey day is back on again! ;)

Dr Jan Itor 01-10-2013 10:08 AM

Respect the Hockey Day.

I was just going to post this and say the same thing, I think he'll be a fan fave

Fel 96 01-10-2013 08:54 PM

Well, he was a fan favorite in NYI and OTT.

I can't see how/why he wouldn't be here as well.

Konopka looks so rugged.

Pretty sure they are waiting to see what happens with Phoenix.

He looks like an ex-boxer, just slightly less punch drunk and in a nice, likable way. Your friendly neighborhood goon, so to speak.
