Columbus & Anaheim

What would it take to get Bobby Ryan to Columbus?

Foligno, Prospal, Erixon & 2013 1st?

Not even close, it would take way more then you would want to give. He is the only Top line forward signed past this year.

Habsawce 01-09-2013 08:21 PM

Wait I thought Erixon and Foligno were untouchables becasue they're new to the team?:amazed:

I'd assume you'd start with Brassard or Johansen and add.

Different guy made the proposal...

You just traded Nash to gain more assets, adding Ryan would just take you back another step. A Ryan trade won't even be considered until Perry is re-signed and even If he is I doubt he is moved.

Exit Dose 01-09-2013 08:37 PM

According to Portzline, we would want something built around Johansen. I suppose it's possible that things have changed in the last six months, but so far there's no indication that he's even in play.

Prospal has a one-year contract with an NTC. Foligno and Erixon have yet to play a single game with Columbus and are unlikely to be moved. And there's no way, with this draft class, that a first-rounder gets moved without a much better idea of where it might slot.

Exactly what Duckstud and Exit Dose said.

I agree he's the only forward we have signed past this year. Getting Bobby Ryan will be the most difficult player to pry off our roster.

Under the old lottery rules, this would be reasonably close (Especially if you swapped Prospal out for someone younger with more upside), but with every team outside the playoffs being eligible for that #1 pick, it's probably not enough.

heusy_79 01-09-2013 09:40 PM

Johansen, Erixon, 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Ryan and Cogliano....too much? Ok we'll just keep Ryan then.

If it was the #1 pick it wouldn't be in play... Columbus would have to know where the pick was before they trade it.

Not that I think Columbus should try to get Ryan from Anaheim. I don't think he'll be moved.

Have they said if it's weighted or even?

It HAS to be weighted.

Alot of players Columbus isn't going to want to trade.

Ryan is the only one of the top 3 forwards that is current extended for more than one year. If Getzlaf, Perry, had long term-contracts, it would be a more reasonable discussion.

Untouchable is the wrong term, but...

This. Time to see what you have first.

This is just terrible for Columbus.

You picked four things that are some of the most unlikely pieces to be moved this year.

Prospal has a NTC
Erixon/Foligno were just acquired and aren't going anywhere
2013 first...this is Columbus's pick so obviously there is a huge chance of being top 3 at least no matter how many other teams have a .000001% chance because they changed the rule or whatever.

Ryan obviously isn't being considered a part of their future core by duck fans and Ryan is worth less than Nash imo so this is a pretty good deal for Anaheim if they switched out Prospal for someone who is actually likely to be traded.

This doesn't make much sense.

Why not?

Fro 01-10-2013 07:58 AM

We'll see...I think a trade b/t the two teams makes a lot of sense....the starting point would probably be one of our young Dmen and the NYR 1st then another asset or two...it all depends how bad Ana wants Ryan gone and how bad he wants to leave....

Gliff 01-10-2013 08:15 AM

I have no problem trading Bobby after Perry and Getzlaf are signed. Until then there is no way unless the over payment is so substantial that it cannot be ignored.
