So how long will Jamie Benn's holdout be?

I'm betting he won't be on the opening night roster.

SephF 01-10-2013 12:42 PM

He knows he has Nieuwendyk over the barrel. He can ask for whatever he wants and if Dallas doesn't give it to him they're screwed.

Carlzner 01-10-2013 12:42 PM

Who said he's holding out...?

Aren't you the guy who has a grudge of some sorts on him?

Chandrashekhar Limit 01-10-2013 12:44 PM

Shorter than Kyle Turris' holdout.

hefsbeaver 01-10-2013 12:49 PM

113 days :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

Good old Scuba...it just wouldn't be hfboards without hi.

Seriously though, I think Benn gets the deal he wants. He's the guy that the franchise wants to market around and he knows it. It'd be a bit of a PR disaster if he wan't playing on opening night. Anyway, he's a legit superstar and deserves more than a bridge deal...I think I heard 7/$45m suggested and would be down with that.

johnunit 01-10-2013 01:17 PM

Benn will never play a game with Dallas.

South Beach?

I think he will miss a handful of games, and then end up getting what ever money he is asking for.

TorstenFrings 01-10-2013 01:43 PM

I kinda fell in love with Benn during his stint in HH and he seems like an easy enough guy able to fit in whereever. Bottom line: He can get whatever he wants from Dallas and I doubt he wants the world and everything in it. It`ll get resolved very soon.

In other news, Jamie Benn has a time machine.

Best reply possible.

I get the feeling that he's a pretty good guy, in fact I think my brother went to elementary school with him at one point in their lives. Nevertheless, he's from Victoria, BC, so he's not greedy. ;) hahaha

Still, from everything I've learned, he's does everything for the love of the game. I can't see him holding out any longer than Subban, perhaps a couple of weeks at the MOST.

I think we could fix everything with Plekanac, subban and a second for Benn, Oleksiak and a first in 2013.

derriko 01-10-2013 02:15 PM

I would easily sign Benn at 6.5 a year, probably even 7ish if he signs on for the max year at 8 or whatever.

I dont know much about his injuries, but theres no recurring / lingering ones right? I dont think an 8 year contract is too risky.

rockinghockey 01-10-2013 03:20 PM

Hall signed with EDM for 7 yrs 6mil per, I think that is about fair. If Dallas doesn't want to give him that EDM would take him in a deal around Yak.

Signing Subban is just as difficult as signing Benn. Dallas passes, especially if Oleksiak is involved.

Richiebottles 01-10-2013 03:26 PM

What about Subban+ Beaulieu/Tinordi for Benn+ Oleksiak ?

What about no.

If it was up to you, by Monday the Canadiens would have 23 new players.

Neither team is going to trade away recently drafted dman who they want to see develop in their system before dealing away. Dallas is focused on signing Benn and for all we know they could have reached an agreement already. Same with the habs and Subban.

We need our no.1 centerman who plays a solid two-way game and kills penalties. Nothing against Yakupov but he is, as of now, an unproven commodity.

roboninja 01-10-2013 04:01 PM

His holdout will be over the minute he pulls on an EDM jersey. :sarcasm:

While I am kidding of course, I would love to have him. Perfect #2C behind Nuge.

Vankiller Whale 01-10-2013 04:03 PM

Jamie Benn obviously wants to go to <insert my team here>.

How about:

<insert lowball offer here>?

As would many teams. Thanks for the appreciation, but we need him.

rabbit3119 01-10-2013 04:56 PM

He's just waiting to see if the new Dallas jerseys are ugly or not. Nobody wants to wear an ugly jersey.

Amaxing Joni Jokel 01-10-2013 04:57 PM

Jamie Benn obviously wants to go to Carolina.

How about:

LaRose+Stewart+3rd?
