*ALL* Luongo Talk (News/Speculation/Rumors/Proposals)

Who will blink first? Who needs a goalie the most? Who has the leverage?

We've answered all these questions by now, right? No? Well on we go then...

Ronning On Empty 01-10-2013 02:56 PM

We haven't answered all the questions yet Piqued! Thank you for the new thread. :)

If the price is Kadri/Frattin + Bozak then I think he'll be a leaf. If Gillis insists to Kadri+Gardiner type return, he won't. That simple, you'll see.

Vankiller Whale 01-10-2013 02:58 PM

So I proposed this in an offshoot 3-way thread that got closed:

Leafs:
Luongo

Ducks:
Kassian
Kadri
Bozak
Van 1st

Canucks:
Perry
Tor 1st cond' on playoffs or becomes a 2nd

That's true. I hadn't realized Quick was 27 years old.
One thing I think that Leaf fans are overlooking is that even if they believe in Scrivens/Reimer, Luongo or another capable vet would be a huge plus in their development as he was with Schneider. One thing that Detroit has shown is that it is not just drafting that is important but also development. IMO, as an outsider Reimer looks to have lost a lot fo confidence being forced to carry the starters' role. I'm gald that Schneider wasn't thrown to the wolves at such a young age.

Semyon Says 01-10-2013 02:58 PM

has Luongo been traded yet?

Unless you're the Ducks! :)
Let's keep it between Canuck and Leaf fans and not tell them.

that is a sick proposal :amazed:

Leafs get luongo for kadri and bozak
ducks get two top prospects + a 1st and a fill in 2nd line center
canucks get a top nhl player and 2nd (1st is a bit much)

For Vancouver...

It would be a first, kadri and bozak for Luongo. Not worth it for Toronto. Perry could fetch more top-end talent

BerSTUzzi 01-10-2013 03:05 PM

Is Sunday the first day that trades can go down or is it as soon as the NHLPA agrees to the CBA? (I think that's Friday).

Should be a 2nd, not a 1st.

and all is good

I imagine this makes it better for Vancouver and I can't comment on Anaheim's willingness to take that deal. I'd take the pick to Vancouver out if possible, or at least make it a straight 2nd.

This would be okay for the Leafs if they can pick up a decent stop gap center to replace Bozak between Lupul and Kessel. The Tim Connolly experiment there should be over IMO.

Of course, we've been wanting them to pick up a top six centerman for a while now.

I heard on 1040 in Vancouver that Saturday at 4pm was when the NHLPA voting can officially end or something like that. So likely schedule Saturday night and player transactions Sunday

Given that it is guaranteed to be at most a late 1st, and Bozak is approaching UFA, I don't think it's really that much.

And Anaheim is essentially getting 3 1sts + a stopgap 2C while their prospects develop.

But I thought this had three failed firsts, Van. :sarcasm:

Fun aside, while I believe the value is relatively good all around. Anaheim fans are liable to say otherwise unless Perry has made it clear he has no intention of resigning.

I know the nhlpa is voting friday and saturday, but I'm not sure if the second it's ratified the flood gates will open or not. I'd assume they'd put a time on it, like noon Sunday or something of the like.

It's a 1st conditional on making the playoffs. I can live with that. At worst, it'll be what, a 14th overall pick? i would actually have more reservations about Kadri. Would rather trade Frattin or Colborne.

birddog* 01-10-2013 03:16 PM

Prediction: Leafs won't get Luongo. Ownership not fond of paying him 43 million until he's 44 years old.

How do you figure? Ducks get two quality prospects, a 1st and a 2/3 center.

This is on par with what Kovalchuk got. And I would say both Kadri and Kassian are better prospects now than Cormier was in 2010

Prediction: If above prediction is true, Nonis is fired in a press conference on Monday. Ben Scrivens announced as new GM.

Perry is the fomer Hart Trophy winner. Kadri has done nothing in the NHL and Kassian has done little as well. The Ducks get what is likely a late first from Van. and a pending free agent.
Corey Perry would be a highly sought after player if he came on the market.
But, hey, I'm not going to speak for the Ducks. Let's get this deal drafted and ready to send to Gary on Sunday. :)

This is kind of interesting. I wonder how Nuck's fans feel, is a 1st or Kadri more valuable?

Bozak, Kadri and a 2nd.
OR
Bozak,Frattin and a 1st

Spice Trader 01-10-2013 03:20 PM

First off Philly is well know for lunacy..
I think of all the teams in the NHL they are the most likely to cut a 44mill check or send that asset too waivers.

IMO the players van would want would be coutrier or schenn. Similar situation to gardiner and rielly. Both are great talents. No team would want to trade either. Only problem is there is only one job for both of them.

Schenn and couts project to be 1c2c guys. You have giroux a super stud locked down
1c for the next 4-6 years i bet is taken

You see either of those two other guys as 3rd liners? Soo they might be and i stress might be moveable to get a goalie that A has a fantastic resume. B is proven to be able to handle the mad house that is Philly.

Luongo for couts.. Keep the brothers schenn imo.
