Miikka Kiprusoff to Toronto?

I would give up more for Kiprusoff than I would for Luongo.

What do Flames fans want from Toronto?

Kiprusoff is 36 years old and will be an UFA in July of 2014.

James Reimer, Joe Colborne, 2nd Round Pick?

GetThePuckOut 01-10-2013 11:55 PM

Calgary can't trade Kipper without a reliable replacement, which neither Calgary nor Toronto has.

Flames are a bubble playoff team. Their ownership seems hell bent on making a playoff push every year. Don't see this happening.

Vankiller Whale 01-11-2013 12:06 AM

Add Wideman, Cammalleri, Hudler...then ditch their starting goaltender.

Makes no sense to me. The Flames will make the playoffs imo.

Asset management.

They're not winning a Cup any time soon. They know that.

They also realize that Kiprusoff might leave at the end of his contract.

lol. And Toronto is?

And yes, Kiprusoff might leave, but it will be to go to Finland if anything.

James Reimer + Colborne + 2nd is worth more than Bozak + Kadri + Gunnarsson?

SlapJack 01-11-2013 06:21 AM

Only thing of value in that package is the 2nd round pick.

That package is worth much less.

Ok good because I thought I was going crazy when op said he would lay more for Kipper but offered a lot less!

Morlesio14* 01-11-2013 07:13 AM

Yea, lets target another aging goalie!

Do you know why Calgary would consider moving Kipper? Because they're rebuilding (or at least would be if they sold him)!

So WHY if we're rebuilding, would we trade YOUNG assets to get an old Kipper? It makes no sense.

Leland Irving, Mitch Wahl, Matt Stajan, Anton Babchuk, Brett Carson

For

Joe Colbourne, Brad Ross, Matthew Lombardi, Mike Komisarek, Colton Orr

I'd do this. Because big trades are fun.

No chance Flames deal Kipper before the start of the season

Izzy 01-11-2013 09:16 AM

Flames need Kipper if they still want to win Iginla anything.

Because he's a better goalie at his current age than anything you have on your roster now, or have had since 1 year of Ed Belfour. That and he is a better, more reliable goalie than Roberto Luongo. Kipper is one of the most underrated goalies in the league and even at his age is getting it done.

Devilspuppet666 01-11-2013 09:32 AM

i wouldnt trade kipper i want him to retire a flame, i would trade iggy over kipper because i think hes been our most valuable player for the last 7 years

No....Kipper's stats have fluctuated wildly these past years. Luongo has never had a sv% below .913 in his entire career. A couple of playoff games doesn't change that in overall consistency, Luongo >> Kipprusoff.

Yea. I guess you ignored the whole post about Toronto rebuilding.

Doesn't make much sense to trade young assets for a goalie that might help us for 2, maybe 3 years, and then we'll have to look for a goalie all over again.

Especially since at best Toronto could become a lower seeded playoff team in that time, maybe win a round, but definitely not SC contenders. Would just be a needless waste of assets, we could probably get J. Bernier for less and just hope he can be a starter.

yeah on teams that have never really had the skill of the canucks especially in the past 3-4 years kipper is the ONLY reason the flames have come close to the playoffs in recent years

So any goalie on a bad team > than any goalie on a good team.

Kipper > Lundqvist, Rinne, etc. too? They play on awesome defensive teams and put up similar stats to Luongo.

YA!!! You want them for Luongo?;)

Buttonwood 01-11-2013 09:56 AM

For some reason I really see Kiprusoff as having a hit or miss this season. He won the Vezina coming off of the last lockout, but had played 40ish games in Finland so was somewhat fresh and certainly younger. Depending on how he has spent his lockout time, his body might not be in 'game' shape right now. He is certainly an interesting commodity going into the season.

That said, the Flames hold on to him.

Please teach me about asset management. How doea a team manage assets in goal if they trade he only legitimate nhl goalie?
