If there are some Dallas people thinking this is not THAT far off I'd like to hear some counter-offer. What do you think is reasonable for Benn?

but if I'm not mistaken, O'Reilly played most of the year with Landeskog, who scored 30 goals. Plus Benn has Elite potential, like in the mold of a Malkin. Size, speed, skill. Not saying Benn will score 100 points or be MVP (crossing fingers he does) but he has that potential.

Huh?

Tanguay + OReilly for Benn

Avs fan agreeing with you, that Dallas wouldn't do this trade. But O'reilly's value will never equate to how many points he puts up per year. The stuff you get with ROR, is him at practice pushing other players to stay on the ice doing repetitive puck drills and building work ethic. He is a future leader of any team and has an infectious attitude. That is why the value is there in this trade. He will be an elite talent in the mold of datsyuk(less puck skills but skyhigh iq). Benn will be an elite in another way.

I can agree with you on that. O'Reilly is a beast defensively.
I don't think either teams makes this trade.
2 players that each organization values gigantically

At this point in his career he's more like boxed wine. You get something enjoyable out of it from time to time but you're always embarrassed of where its still coming from.

So what? Radar was the one whose playmaking made that line tick and it's not like Benn played with scraps. His most often linemates were Eriksson (one of the best wingers in the NHL who's a lot better than Landeskog at this point in time and one of the best playmaking wingers in the game), Ryder (a 35 goal scorer this past season) and Steve Ott. Radar played with an NHL rookie in Landeskog, guy with stone hands in Winnik, over the hill Hejduk and Steve Downie in the later parts of the season and despite the fact that Radar's line was used as a shutdown line for the first couple of months, depite the obvious talent gap between Radar's and Benn's linemates, despite Radar's line starting majority of it's shifts in their own zone he still managed to score only 8 points less than Benn. And to top it all Radar is vastly superior to Benn when it comes to defense, faceoffs and staying out of the penalty box.

It's OK for Stars fans to decline the offer, but the fact that they act insulted by it is an inslut to sanity.

avsfan09 01-13-2013 10:08 AM

No from both teams. O'reilly is better defensively while Benn is better offensively.

I think Benn will be a two way point per game player, but I expect O'reilly will put up a season atleast close to seventy points some time in his career while playing selke caliber defense.

When you add in Barrie it's a definite no. I'm really high on Barrie the guy has a pro mentality and great work ethic. He could be a better version of Liles or a similar caliber player.
