No, not really.

Told the Canadiens have unofficially released Scott Gomez, sending him home.

Wow. And the day gets better

Hullois 01-13-2013 09:10 AM

They just said on RDS info that he's not on the ice, and not because of an injury. Bergevin to speak in about 10 min

JGRB 01-13-2013 09:11 AM

Was to be expected, especially with what Bobby Mac brought to light the other day.

I can't help but feel bad for Gomez but this is the right decision for this hockey club.

Dwight 01-13-2013 09:11 AM

Thanks for the first season where you were pretty dece.

Sorry it had to end this way. Peace.

LaurentHabs 01-13-2013 09:12 AM

Bergevin Presser on RDSInfo (699 or 99 Videotron) after commercial

sampollock 01-13-2013 09:13 AM

Well The contract killed him. If he was 3million he would be there right now

Habs 4 Life 01-13-2013 09:16 AM

Wonder how rest of the players react to this, especially his buddy Gio

coolasprICE 01-13-2013 09:16 AM

You got to feel bad for the guy

Seems kind of dumb. With the lack of offensive players, I'd rather have given him a shot this year. They'll still be paying him, and he'll still count against the cap. It's not like he has a poor attitude and would be a distraction to everyone...

DDIHH 01-13-2013 09:17 AM

His physical exam must have been abyssimal...

And then you risk him getting injured and your stuck with that contract. Obviously he is not in their plans for the future. You pay him to sit home, then he is gone next summer.

LaurentHabs 01-13-2013 09:18 AM

Bergevin

"With the new CBA, and the future years, the best solution for the Habs and the team was to let Scott Gomez go home, get his salary, and buy him out when summer comes. I told it to him at 730 am this morning"

Hullois 01-13-2013 09:18 AM

Scott sent home, official,

Also....you don't think anyone else can put up those massive offensive numbers that he did last year?!? Come on now. :help:

FireBergevin 01-13-2013 09:19 AM

Ironically, hardly any Hab fans saw this coming.

Habsfever 01-13-2013 09:19 AM

hahahahahhha. Thank you Scott

MasterD 01-13-2013 09:19 AM

I don't have RDS info, anyone knows if LCN/RDI/SRC/RDS2 will show it?

psychonaut 01-13-2013 09:21 AM

I think its the right moved to make. Would of been bad knowing he was going to be buy-out at the end of the year. Everyone know that its going to happen.

LaurentHabs 01-13-2013 09:21 AM

Bergevin said if someone called in for a trade, he would accept it as well

Coldplay 01-13-2013 09:22 AM

Thanks for being a classy, accountable act to the end, Scotty.

Wish it could've worked out here, hope you can revive your career somewhere.

This exact scenario, where if a guy got injured long term, he couldn't be bought out.
