Kings trade Kevin Westgarth to Carolina for Anthony Stewart, '13 4th rd, '14 6th rd
 

@TSNBobMckenzie: To get Westgarth, CAR traded Anthony Stewart, its 2013 fourth-round draft pick and a sixth-round selection in the 2014 draft to the Kings.

That's crazy. I can't believe it, I'm gonna miss Westy. But that's a crazy haul for a guy who wasn't going to see ice time.

Westgarth is a great guy, but he doesn't bring much to an NHL level hockey team unless they get into a bar fight after a game. Even if Stewart never plays for us, it's still a great trade in terms of asset value.

Boy, after some research I see that Stewart is better than I thought. Excellent fourth liner.

To get one draft pick for a goon is great. To get two and a player is even better.

Now let's trade Simon Gagne + for Chris Stewart. Just kiddin!

Who would've ever though that the undrafted Kevin Westgarth who has 1 goal 4 assists in 90 NHL games would land us a 4th round pick and 6th round pick and former 1st round pick who had 9 goals and 11 assists in 77 games just last season....

Good team guy, but just no spot for him. Plus if you get 2 picks, I think you have to do it. Stewart isn't anything special either, but he's a UFA after this season, so it opens up cap and contract space for next year.

Wow! Westy is a great teammate but he just fetched a ton. I would have done it for the draft picks alone. Stewart is a big guy who can chip in some minutes on the fourth and produce more than Westy. Not bad Deano.

Westgarth would fit in well with Carolina, he's already missing teeth. That's a nice haul for a cheerleader.

I don't care for Stewart but the picks are nice. Westgarth was a good guy, looked great (relatively speaking) in the '11 playoffs too, but wasn't getting any ice time once Sutter got on board.
