Jochen Hecht's one year deal with BUF is now official. $1M plus potential for GP bonuses of $250K. Cap hit, tho, is $1M.

Good deal for Buffalo if he stays healthy, IMO.

Lol at the title. I can just imagine him singing his deal to the press.

Always liked Hecht. Great signing.

Fixed.

Glad to have the Wacky German Backhand back.

One more year for Broken Jochen...

Man, Darcy sure loves to resign the injured players...

LongWayDown37 01-13-2013 07:29 PM

Excellent move. Low risk signing to get a veteran center while the Sabres transition into a group of really highly skilled, but scarce experience in Ennis, Hodgson, Grigorenko and Girgensens.

Rivet52 01-13-2013 07:34 PM

I've said my thoughts of this multiple times in the last week so I don't feel like repeating them again.

Good re-signing by us. Glad to keep him.

Girgensons won't play much if at all for the Sabres this year, he'll keep developing in the AHL (hoping his injury isn't severe and he'll be able to bounce back).

But otherwise everything is spot on, plus it gives us another PK forward which we could use, and a guy who can anchor a checking line. Gerbe-Hecht-Kaleta would look real nice.

What do you mean? He let Tiny "glass man" Tim Connolly walk...

WhiteLight* 01-13-2013 09:05 PM

I call him Jokin' Hecht

Insomniac99 01-13-2013 09:40 PM

Personally, I dont want him back. But really, he's the best option out there right now to fill a roster hole. Good move IMO.

Workensons 01-14-2013 01:31 AM

I mean, if he can stay healthy he can score 15 goals and 40 points. Good stop-gap if the Grigorenko project doesn't work out this year.

HiddenInLight 01-14-2013 06:11 AM

As long as he stays healthy and lindy keeps him away from our top line, he should be alright.

Chainshot 01-14-2013 07:20 AM

Much like Rivet52 -- good, cheap signing that fills a need. If he can give them minutes in a defensive role, great. If he breaks, they are back to where they were before.

Two contracts on though -- he re-upped Timmy twice with his history of being prepetually dented before finally not/letting him walk.

Schalkenullvier* 01-14-2013 09:17 AM

Geez the pronounciation of Jochen is nothing like Joking, and doesn't rhyme with Broken either :P
