Sabres players/prospects on waivers (Pardy/Tarnasky/Porter waived)

@TSNBobMcKenzie: We got waivers! Ha. Here you go: ANA: J Hendry, P Maroom, N Guenin, M Smaby. BUF: J Finley, D Leggio, D Schliestel. CBJ: C Bass, A Joudrey

Is this just a housekeeping move? As in something that had to be done since the league started back up.

I would imagine that's the case, yes. No surprise with any of those names.

Yes, they were waiver eligibles signed to AHL contracts that are now void.

Brennan and Mancari need waivers to play for Rochester again and Porter and Tarnasky already cleared in September.

Mancari on today, Porter and Tarnasky have to clear by Saturday (I was under the impression they didn't because they cleared in September, not the case).

Also, SJ put Brandon Mashinter on waivers today, who may be worth a claim.
He's not a household name as a prospect, but he's hulking at 6'4 230.
Can't say I've ever really paid much attention to him, but he's an intriguing package of size and what looks to be decent skill (even though he's having a bad year, some Sharks fans thought he had top nine potential at one point).
There's plenty of guys like him that hit the wire and clear, so why am I mentioning him?
There's interest for him around the league:

13. Some interest in San Jose Sharks prospect Brandon Mashinter. He's a banger having a down year offensively in the AHL, but might get a shot in an energy role somewhere. Heard the Carolina Hurricanes considered him, but getting Kevin Westgarth probably eliminates the need.

But if McCormick is down for an indeterminate amount of time a little nasty that can play in the bottom 3 wouldn't be that bad.

Saw him play in PHX a couple years ago on MLK Day. I recall being impressed by him enough that I had to look in the program to see who he was.

I was also under that impression, specifically since Darcy said 2 days ago on the radio that they didn't have to clear as they already did in September.

Sabres waive Adam Pardy

Per Bob McKenzie

If he clears, Rochester finally gets a veteran defenseman

jBuds 01-17-2013 11:08 AM

Pardy waived - per TSN

joshjull 01-17-2013 11:08 AM

Hopefully he ends up in Rochester. They could use the help.

Leave him be Islanders!

Welcome to Long Island Adam Pardy!!

Not surprising, too many bodies on the blueline and he's an overpaid 6th D-man. I'll bet he clears.

flyingpig 01-17-2013 11:10 AM

Isles just picked up Aucoin. They cannot have more room for d-men, can they?

Pardy as expected.

So if no others (other than Tarnasky and Porter) that means Gerbe and McCormick on IR!?

Keith. He's a center.

That seems to be the most likely scenario. That gets them down to 23 players

They're grabbing every semi-serviceable defenseman that hits the wire, then they'll just waive the least of them again and we'll almost assuredly get Finley back at that point.
