Good luck. Hope he does well.

Garbage Goal 01-13-2013 03:00 PM

From what I understand his biggest asset is a big shot, right?

You mean his only asset...

Sharppi 01-13-2013 03:04 PM

I'm sorry Flyers. Good guy in locker room and a HARD shot, but that's it. I hope you don't need him for too long and waive or something.

GoneFullHextall 01-13-2013 03:05 PM

eh its a one year deal. im ok with it.

LEIFey 01-13-2013 03:36 PM

One year is fine.

Fel 96 01-13-2013 03:39 PM

I've always thought Foster was a good player till his unfortunate serious injury that happened in San Jose a couple years ago.

He's still a good guy. Not the same player anymore though.

His Beardliness* 01-13-2013 03:41 PM

It's mediocre D-man signing day.

We have like 8 guys to fill the #6/7 spot.

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossmann
Meszaros-???
???

Lilja
Foster
Gervais
Walker
Bourdon (hurt)
Gustaffson (hurt)
Syvret
Manning

It's also his worst asset if you're standing in front of the net. The guy has no accuracy

Bookman 01-13-2013 03:49 PM

It doesn't happen often, but KF is a big guy, and he occasionally destroys people. Makes you wonder why he doesn't do it more often.

He's a great guy, and has a big shot. Not a great d'man, but serviceable.

Good signing for Philly.

No , he also great at taping sticks and passing water bottles . Just useless on the ice with a hockey stick

Late depth defenseman is key in a compressed schedule. Trend should continue today.

Elvs 01-13-2013 04:35 PM

No one is as bad as they are made out to be on HF. Foster were among the better defenseman still on the UFA list, and with the injuries the Flyers have on the backend they need the depth. Good guy, hope he can get his career back on track.

AfroThunder396 01-13-2013 07:24 PM

Foster is atrocious. He's a well liked guy in the lockerroom but he's walking minus.

Rivet52 01-13-2013 07:37 PM

I've said what I've thought of this one all week too, just like the Hecht re-signing, so I won't repeat it.

All's I'll say is, it's an alright signing as long as the Flyers don't give him too much ES time.

Kurtis Foster is not a defenseman...he LITERALLY can not play defense.

GoneFullHextall 01-13-2013 07:41 PM

most teams arent going to expect much out of your 6/7 defenseman. They are 6/7 defensman for a reason. they are flawed. This was a depth move for the Flyers and its a 1 year deal. Not sure why people are overreacting the way they are on this.

Just give it time. Hopefully, for the Flyers sake, they will pull him off the ice when they realize he's incapable of playing defense a lot quicker than the Devils did.

Rutkowski 01-13-2013 08:08 PM

I see Philadelphia is aiming for that #1 draft pick this season.

LOL

TheUnseenHand 01-13-2013 08:36 PM

If the Flyers play him the way the rangers played Bickel in the playoffs they might be OK.

Jtown 01-13-2013 08:45 PM

He will touch the ice for the first week or two then after that he should be a regular in the AHL. our 3rd pairing is just a bit injured coming into the season.

You made the same dumb joke in the Boucher thread. So a young team who won a round in the payoffs last year are in contention for the worst team in the league because they acquired a #3 goaltender and a guy who will compete for #6 defenseman? Great post
