This only mean that the team is keeping Dumba and Kampfer?

Or does this mean that Zucker is staying?

nickschultzfan 01-17-2013 11:16 AM

I like Dowell a lot. He is a good pressbox and 4th line center guy. Palmieri and Veilleux eh.

Fel 96 01-17-2013 11:20 AM

Hopefully Palmieri isn't claimed but I have some serious doubt since he has looked good with the Aeros so far.

FORWARDS
Zach Parise-Mikko Koivu-Dany Heatley

Matt Cullen-Mikael Granlund-Devin Setoguchi

Cal Clutterbuck-Kyle Brodziak-P-M Bouchard

Darroll Powe-Zenon Konopka-Torrey Mitchell

Matt Kassian.

DEFENSEMEN

Ryan Suter-Jared Spurgeon

Clayton Stoner-Tom Gilbert

Justin Falk-Nate Prosser

Steven Kampfer

Matt Dumba
Depth lines from Russo right now without those three.

Jarick 01-17-2013 11:22 AM

Surprised about Palmieri. He looked excellent and has been great. I think he might get picked up. Although that would free up a contract spot.

Generic User 01-17-2013 11:25 AM

If Zucker is staying he better not be getting 4th line minutes. Doubt he does though.

bozak911 01-17-2013 11:29 AM

Zucker doesn't require waivers to be sent down... He was never "re-called"...

All of the Aeros could be transported back down without waivers.

These three being waived was no shock.

Wildfish 01-17-2013 11:29 AM

I'd be surprised if no other team takes a chance on Palmieri - big, young, looking good in the AHL...

I don't think this has any effect on Zucker, he'll go back to Houston, they're not going to keep him here to sit in the pressbox.

Updated blog at http://www.startribune.com/russo . I'm hearing D Steve Kampfer will be reassigned; making it likely 18yo Matt Dumba sticks for now
Russo.

bozak911 01-17-2013 11:32 AM

Yeah, Kampfer can also be re-assigned without waivers...

Fel 96 01-17-2013 11:33 AM

Would be kinda funny if NJD claims Palmieri to give him a second chance.

Hopefully they won't though.

FUBAR McDangles 01-17-2013 11:35 AM

So Dumba stays until Brodin/Scandella is back? Should be around the 6 game cut off then too, right?

NugarifiK 01-17-2013 11:38 AM

I'm excited to see what Dumba can do at full speed. He could have laid out a few teammates last night with brutal checks.

OpRedDawn* 01-17-2013 11:40 AM

Well, why was Palmieri up in the first place if they knew he'd have to clear waivers to go back down?

And, I figured that was the whole purpose of his 2 way contract? Would really like to keep him around

He wasn't ever "down". He was playing in houston on an AHL contract during the lockout. He signed an NHL contract after the lockout ended, so to go back to the AHL he requires waivers. Also 2-way has no bearing on waiver eligibility.

this providence 01-17-2013 11:48 AM

I think Palmieri gets claimed. Playing better than expected in Houston plus he has size and skating ability. There will be a team that finds room for him. The Wild likely tried to find a trade here but this may be the easiest way of getting a contract of the books.

I do like Palmieri but it won't be the biggest loss in the world if they lose him.

Hopefully Brodin can play soon.

Blah. Just doesn't seem right the way we did it (assuming someone else claims him)

Engebretson 01-17-2013 11:57 AM

I'll mildly miss Palmieri (and his magnificent mane of hair) if he gets claimed, but if Fletcher wasn't willing to take the risk of waiving him, he would have found a way to keep him up here to play or until we could trade him.

In Chuck We Trust.

I believe those are *games played by the player*. He can sit in the pressbox all year and not trip that, if I'm right. Not that the Wild would do that, as it would suck for his development. I'm just saying if Matt is on the depth chart at #7, then he could be here more than 5 Wild games (waiting for Scandella or Brodin to get healthy) without tripping the contract as long as some of those are in the press box.

Tho if they keep him that long, I'd hope they give him at least one real NHL game in there as a consolation prize.

I might get crucified for this but I'd rather (potentially) lose Kassian on waivers than Palmieri. There I said it.

Kassian is probably better trade-bait tho. I'd bet we could get a 3rd or 4th for him.
