I'm okay with it.

onefatsurfer 01-17-2013 11:17 AM

congrats, sal.

Henrique Iglesias 01-17-2013 11:17 AM

Not surprised. I'm assuming Kovy and Elias with the As. Would have been cool to see Zajac get one though.

Oroku Saki* 01-17-2013 11:17 AM

Eh. Wanted Kovy. Sals a good guy though.

Payce 01-17-2013 11:18 AM

Solid choice.

Japam 01-17-2013 11:18 AM

Congratulations to Sal.

apice3* 01-17-2013 11:18 AM

No problem here.

Getzo5 01-17-2013 11:19 AM

Expected and I`m fine with it. So will the players IMO.

Zajac will be the next one, if they don`t go with Kovy. Henrique and one of the Swedes (Jake/Lars) will get As.

DEVILS ALL THE WAY* 01-17-2013 11:20 AM

I'm shocked...

I mean Salvador is a warrior and all but I would've bet my life savings that Kovy was the obvious choice.

Oh well, we'll just have to redo this nonsense in the next 24 to 36 months from now.

ILikeItVeryMuch* 01-17-2013 11:20 AM

Solid choice

Henrique Iglesias 01-17-2013 11:20 AM

The way I see it in the next 3-4 years:

C- Kovalchuk
A- Zajac
A- Henrique

Could possibly be switched around.

CerebralGenesis 01-17-2013 11:21 AM

Guess they want to pick another one in a couple years.

Fine with the pick though.

Uli Hiemer 01-17-2013 11:21 AM

Marty raved about his work ethic during the playoffs, and used him and Parise as examples of the leadership in the lockerroom.

Congrats! wish zajac could get an A too.

Thinking the same.

Cowbell232 01-17-2013 11:22 AM

I'm more than okay with this, honestly.

Never saw Kovy as the obvious captain.

CerebralGenesis 01-17-2013 11:23 AM

Better make a hockey card with Salvador and the C so I can have visual and historical evidence.

Elias and Kovalchuk keep the A's

hockeyr5 01-17-2013 11:24 AM

Hmm, very interesting.

Wingman77 01-17-2013 11:24 AM

Cool, I'm glad for Sal

Over coming a potentially career ending injury to later become the team captain, great stuff

Captain Sal has a good ring to it

tycobb 01-17-2013 11:24 AM

I don't get why they don't just give it to Kovy.

Richer's Ghost 01-17-2013 11:25 AM

Good call imo. And I love having a defenseman as captain again.

Very possible. When Marty and Elias retires, Kovy will be face of the franchise. Having him next in line when Sal goes, and Zajac/Henrique ready to take on bigger tasks, we're looking at a solid setup for a long time.

Agree 100%.

Good call on this one.
