B.Schenn or N. Kadri

Who's gonna put up more points this season and why?

Roo Mad Bro 01-18-2013 03:36 PM

Brayden Schenn has been practicing and is slotted on the 1st line with Hartnell and Giroux.

He's also expected to get 2nd PP unit time.

So yeah, Schenn.

BonMorrison 01-18-2013 03:37 PM

This thread again.

Schenn will get more points, he's on the top line. Kadri is playing on the third line.

MeowLeafs 01-18-2013 03:39 PM

Leaf fan saying Schenn will get more points and be the better player now and in the future.

Devonator 01-18-2013 03:41 PM

Not even close.....Schenn is by far the better player regardless of his linemates...if the leafs could trade Kadri for Schenn they would do it over and over again....

I was going to go with Kadri because I wasn't sure if Schenn was going to get a top 6 role, but in this case Schenn.

Benny FTW 01-18-2013 04:27 PM

Schenn AINEC

Micklebot 01-18-2013 07:46 PM

Kadri... but he'll do it in the AHL.

edit: JK, I honestly don't know

CASUAL KEV 01-18-2013 07:49 PM

Schenn because he's a better player.

Atomos2 01-18-2013 07:59 PM

I chose Schenn, but in terms of the better player, it's too close to tell. Schenn will get more points playing as the top line centre.

Are you kidding me? In terms of who is the better player??? Wow.......Schenn by a country mile and it is not even close....

Based on what?

Kadri and Schenn have taken basically the same path and put up basically the same numbers in their respective pro careers. I think there's a huge misconception that Schenn is some kind of defensive stud, although his +/- has been awful with both the Flyers and Phantoms. Sure +/- is an imperfect stat, but when you're noticeably worse than the rest of the team, you can draw a pretty conclusive decision that he has struggled defensively since turning pro.

Kadri by no means is a strong defensive player, but I would argue that he has higher offensive upside because of his high end vision, hands and playmaking ability. If Schenn succeeds at the NHL level, it will be because he learned to use is size and strength in a power forward role. They will be different players, but both have a good chance at having long, successful careers as NHL top six forwards.

Okay, homer. Settle down.

Obviously Schenn is better but not by much at all.

Future is anyone's guess. If Schenn continues to play full-time with Giroux, then I lean towards him. If not, Kadri gets my nod.

For all the all love Schenn gets around, Kadri deserves the same because he has done just as much.

This. Exactly. Not even remotely close.

I voted Kadri but I didn't realize this. If Schenn is playing on the top line he'll put up more points... my whole thinking was Kadri will get more ice time than Schenn will

leaflover 01-18-2013 09:31 PM

Really, Schenn should have far far better totals than a rookie whose slated for 3rd line duty.

Kind of a peculiar set of players to compare.

Le Magnifique 66 01-18-2013 10:00 PM

Schenn

Izzy 01-18-2013 10:44 PM

Schenn.

He might even double Kadri, if all goes as planned.

I don't understand... What basis do you have for Schenn being so ridiculously better? It's funny how Kadri gets so much flak around here when he and Schenn have accomplished pretty much the same amount and have been pretty similar players offensively at every level.

Voodoo Child 01-18-2013 11:24 PM

Obviously the one that doesn't play for the Leafs (even if Schenn has done nothing as of yet that's anything more or less noteworthy than anything Kadri has done).

Examining linemates gives you a better idea what each prospect had to work with. All stats are obtained from: leftwinglock.com

It should be pretty straight forward to read, but just in case... The first line tells us that Schenn played beside Briere and Simmonds on Even Strength for 3.85% (214 mins) of the Flyers total ES time.

The above post was merely stating facts without any personal opinions. As for my take on those figures... it's amazing that Kadri's been able to maintain similar PPG as Schenn, considering some of the dubious linemates he's had to work with over the past couple of seasons.

Schenn will no doubt have a better season if he stays on the top line, unless Kadri also finds his way between Kessel and Lupul full time. I was undecided on which prospect has developed better to date, but I'm leaning more towards Kadri based on these observations. He doesn't need to be surrounded with 50'ish+ point producers to get his point totals.

This is a clown thread

InjuredChoker 01-19-2013 07:08 AM

Schenn.. better player on a better team and linemates.

Milan the God* 01-19-2013 09:12 AM

Brayden Schenn. Don't think Kadri will amount to much.
