Redden@$800k vs Barker@$700k

It seems many are praising the signing of Redden and criticizing the signing of Barker, who is the better signing?

McBaevid 01-18-2013 06:07 PM

Redden, not close

ricky0034 01-18-2013 06:10 PM

easily Redden

the only reason I was against giving him a roster spot on the Wings is because it would have probably meant waiving Kindl(who i'm not all that high on but still wouldn't wanna just waive)

if Barker was on the team i'd probably literally have nightmares just thinking about it

eklunds source 01-18-2013 06:11 PM

Redden by a country mile.

To label Barker a disappointment is faulty. He's been sub-replacement level for his entire career, and that hasn't changed in Edmonton. Regardless of draft pedigree, he's just not an NHL player.
He was seriously outplayed by Theo Peckham.

Dr Quincy 01-18-2013 06:12 PM

Redden because I think he can at least play.

Kezia 01-18-2013 06:14 PM

Redden should be playing the ECHL.

if Redden belongs in the ECHL then Barker belongs in like Australia or something

Virtanen2Horvat 01-18-2013 06:18 PM

Pretty even I would say.

Sloth Slothersons* 01-18-2013 06:24 PM

We already know Barkers sucks. Still interested to see how Redden does back in the NHL.

This was the argument I was going to use. We already know that Barker is not an NHL player, however we haven't seen what Redden can do with a spot on an NHL roster in a while. There's a chance that he could be much more motivated and be an important piece for St. Louis this year.

Not even close, of course Barker, the following reasons confirm this:

Barker is taller
Barker weighs more
Barker was signed by the Canucks, and the Canucks have swept the Blues twice - Redden's new team
Barker is younger
Barker had 7 more points than Redden the last two seasons combined
Redden played for the Senators
Barker is probably related to Bob Barker

Redden may or may not still have it.

Barker never had it.

Redden wins.

That's what I voted for...

Should have been an option "too close to care"

SephF 01-18-2013 08:05 PM

I say Redden but I don't think the Barker signing was necessarily "bad"

They take literally zero risk and give him only 700k... he's depth if there's a few injuries. Nothing wrong with that IMO unless he's keeping a more promising player out of the lineup due to contract cap.

I wouldn't pick Barker to play on my team in a pickup game on an outdoor rink!

kmad 01-18-2013 09:10 PM

Redden has personal issues that I wouldn't want anywhere near the Canucks dressing room.

Baggie 01-18-2013 09:12 PM

Even as of today, Redden has way more upside than Barker

Only Canuck fans picking Barker.

This Canucks fan picked Redden by a mile..

Asher 01-18-2013 09:55 PM

Considering that Barker is being overpaid by about 700K I would think the answer to this question is pretty obvious.

Kudos to you sir.

VinnyC 01-18-2013 10:40 PM

Neither belong in the NHL. Barker also happens to think the game in a particularly impaired manner, so I suppose Redden is the better player.

bettercallstaal 01-18-2013 10:41 PM

I'm glad that Redden went west so I can at least root for him. I don't think that he has much in the tank left at this point though. Good luck Redden.

Izzy 01-18-2013 10:43 PM

Blues fan saying Redden. Won't vote since it would obviously be my choice
