Is one of our resident artists working on a GDT to post? I don't want to start a thread if someone's put some real effort into putting something together.

Besides, I think the expectations for this year warrant the ditching of half-assed GDTs. If we're hoping for the Blues to elevate their game to the next level, it only seems fair that we attempt to do as much ourselves.

we need a schedule for people to sign up to the GDTs

How likely is Schwartz to see serious time this year? And in what role? Thanks.

Pretty likely. Right now he's lined up with Berglund and Stewart. Hitch has mentioned using 3 PP units, with Schwartz being on one of them...I'm not sure if we will actualy go with 3 units, but Schwartz is known as being potent on the PP. I think he'll see some time there regardless. But his playing time depends on how well he plays, obviously. He can be sent down to Peoria, and he knows that. I personally think he'll stay up with the Blues for most, if not the all of the season.

Depends on his performance. They're definitely giving him a fair shot considering he's with Berglund and Stewart.

Peoria bound. Porter would have to clear waivers again if the Blues bring him back, so I presume someone would claim Porter IMO. I've always liked Porter, a high energy player.

Re entry waivers were eliminated in the new CBA.

Schwartz looked good tonight. I think he'll play almost all the games and average 17-18 mpg. I can't see Hitch benching him if he's healthy. He's officially part of "The Top 9".

JR just tweeted this:

Tarasenko, appreciative of the way the fans treated him tonight, told @miklasz after the game, "This will be a great home."

Kinda warms your heart lol.

Hope he loves it here and wants to stay for a long time

Yes! His whole 20-year NHL career!

Robb_K 01-20-2013 12:38 AM

I think this will be a VERY enjoyable year! And we long-suffering Blues fans deserve to enjoy every moment of it.

I think the Blues would have won the cup last year if Petro and Halak weren't injured. Elliot letting in early softies vs LA killed the Blues.

He looked pretty good out there tonight. I think if he keeps up his performence and Stewart and Berglund continue to produce as well, he will be kept in the Top 9 all year long.

Mike Liut 01-20-2013 02:01 AM

I think Schwartz, Perron and AMac had mediocre games at best. All 3 can play better. It happens

I thought both Schwartz and Perron were good. Perron drew a penalty and set up Backes and Oshie a few times for good scoring chances, they just couldn't convert them. Schwartz was great in the first period. He had two good scoring chances. Kind of disappeared towards the end of the game, so that could certainly improve. Andy Mac was actually pretty invisible tonight for the most part. Pretty good sign when one of your most gifted offensive players has a quiet night, yet you still put up a 6 spot.

Hey guys, I was going to create a poll on the main boards regarding the Blues depth. Can you tell me if this depth chart is accurate (when the Blues are at full strength)? Positions don't matter, but their place within the lineup does (ie. it doesn't matter if McDonald and Steen switch positions on the same line, but their classification as the 2nd line rather than the 3rd line does).

David Perron-David Backes-T.J. Oshie
Andy McDonald-Alexander Steen-Vladimir Tarasenko
Jaden Schwartz-Patrik Berglund-Chris Stewart
Vladimir Sobotka-Scott Nichol-Jamie Langenbrunner

Kris Russell-Alex Pietrangelo
Barrett Jackman-Kevin Shattenkirk
Ian Cole-Roman Polak

Jaroslav Halak
Brian Elliot
