Might as well open this thread again. Guesses on what Don will say in the first CC of the season:

- Leafs will make the playoffs
- Kadri rookie of the year(if not eligible, breakthrough player at least)
- some players will get bashed, possibly Visnovsky?
- despite not winning the WJC, Canada still the best

Could a mod sticky this one like last season?

Interested to see what he says about OReilly after all the praise he gave last season.

I think we will see him bashing a lot of the Russians

I do not think Kadri is eligible for rookie of the year since he has numerous amount of games played in the nhl already.

Hasn't Canada failed to win gold in WJC three years in a row now?

It's about time Kadri gets a chance.

I suspect he'll do the same thing he does every year. He'll be critical of a multitude of players, coaches and owners from every hockey nation on earth.

Some will not be Canadian. He will say something good about hockey in Canada. This will then prompt the media and message board hounds to declare him a xenophobic old man.

He will make another million dollars and gain thousands of fans from the people that actually watch him and hear everything he has to say, while the critics who read soundbites or watch Youtube videos with animation and selective editing wonder why he is so beloved by so many people.

Just another year.

I think he'll get on the Habs for not getting this done.

All I know is that there will be commotion, some voices will be raised, some names will be butchered, MacLean will be told to shut up, and some troops will be mentioned.

It's because Americans and Europeans play in the CHL. :laugh:

He'll make some sense a couple times during the season, giving his fanboys and girls enough comfort to keep ignoring the hateful crap he spews out of his mouth otherwise.

Why is that worth laughing at? I think most of the players would say that playing in the best junior league in the world has helped them develop, wouldn't they? Otherwise, why play in the CHL?

Pretty solid bet he will talk about Canada Hockey and the military.

Don Cherry has stated that Canada is hurt by it not being a 100% canadian league, because the evil americans and europeans steal roster spots from hard working, lesser skilled canadians.

It was a bash against Cherry, not CHL. Cherry is a clown.

I'm a Don Cherry Fan but its hard to believe a man nearing 80yrs old is getting paid 800 thousand a year?It must be the only thing in his life.

You obviously havent watched the NBA and seen the age of there refs. At least Cherry isnt on the ice.

Hopefully he will credit Uncle Gary for ending the lockout like he did on Twitter, which will of course generate the usual 20 pages of angry posts here. :nod:

Cherry is many things but he's not a clown. He's one of the few hockey people who speak their minds and don't hide behind all those corporate BS PR-cliches.

It's like the NHL, if there were no controversial hits, goals, saves, penalties etc, this forum would be silent. We need something to talk about.
