2013 Trippisms Thread

Tripp: "That's two coaches, in Muller and Dineen, who were teammates for Team Canada in the 1980s."

John: "That was '84, Tripp. That was a long, long, long time ago."

Tripp: That's what Orwell told me."

Finlandia WOAT 01-19-2013 07:41 PM

To be fair, that's fairly clever wordplay by Tripp.

Down 4-0 after the first:

"Nowhere to go but up! Carolina blue skies ahead."

"Of course the Hurricanes did not literally break his back..."

-Tripp referring to the Canes finally solving Theodore in 2002

"The Hurricanes are luck they have very good depth with seven good defensemen."-Tripp

You can almost hear John facepalming after Tripps lesson in Russian.

"Tonight is a special night for Bobby Sanguinetti after not playing last night, as he's from New Jersey...which is a suburb of Philadelphia."

What the Faulk 02-02-2013 06:57 PM

He or John said "***** to Semin" last night.

"There are a lot of people that get hard on Cam Ward."

"We give away a lot of food, Tripp"
"We sure do, John. I haven't made a food reference all year and I still hear about it."

I think he was speaking from personal experience.

After Sasha scored, Carolina Hurricanes color announcer Tripp Tracy attempted to salute Semin with John Forslund’s classic goal call of "Hey hey whaddya say!" in Russian. Unfortunately for Tracy, he failed… badly. In awful Russian, the Canes announcer struggles through "Nu, nu, chto vy govoritsya." In Russian, that means, "Well, Well. What you is spelled?" RMNB’s Fedor Fedin tells us he should’ve exclaimed, "Kak naschet etogo?" which is Russian for, "What about this?!" Oh, well. Next time, Tripp.

loobarlow 02-06-2013 09:32 PM

Well, well, what you is spelleds to everyone!

I'd never seen that before. That's pretty epic.

Most of hockey's announcers or commentators / talking heads, annoy the hell out of me . I try to tune them all out. Usually, it's a difficult thing to do.

Roboturner913 02-09-2013 09:35 PM

"There's more than one way to slice a cat, John."

A friend of mine once described Tripp as the real-life version of Pepper Brooks.
