Hartnell to Montreal

Montreal - Hartnell

Flyers - Cole, Diaz

Possibly some draft picks going back and forth to even it out?

Mtl gets a big power forward in Hartnell who is a little younger than Cole and is signed to a decent contract.. I know Cole is a great power forward but Montreal gets a little younger in the trade and probably the best overall player of the trade..

Flyers get Cole, who can replace Hartnell or maybe even play with less responsibilities than now, and Diaz who seems like he might have his breakout year this year after his points during the lockout and will definitely be able to solidify himself on Phili's back end. And is only 27/28 if I'm not mistaken?..

As I said picks can go back and forth to even it out if necessary..
Thoughts??

Flyers would probably ask for P.K. Subban

Philadelphia Ducks 01-20-2013 04:20 PM

No thanks. Diaz doesn't make up the different between Harts and Cole. Plus Harts just resigned a contract (I know, queue Holmgren jokes) with a NMC and is a great team player.

Habsawce 01-20-2013 04:30 PM

Hartnell is a heart and soul type guy for Philadelphia. Unless they fall out of it and do a complete overhaul (not impossible but unlikely) he's not going anywhere unless there's a #1 defenseman coming back.

Nice idea and I'm sure he'd be a fan favourite in MTL but I just can't see it.

In Philly he is probably near untouchable after Giroux. Team oriented guy, grit, ok contract, and a vocal leader of the team. Pretty sure Laughton is living with him too

Chacal667 01-20-2013 06:38 PM

as a habs fan i hated him but i learned to like him after i watched 24/7, he look like a very nice guy

I am surprised that it wasn't Subban that this thread was going after...oh, one did think of it! Don't see why Flyers do this.. What they need is a quarterback D to replace Pronger and a solution out of Bryzgalov. Would save such a quality player like Hartnell in the event that such an opportunity would show up.

But, hey, if you insist...

AmeriHab 01-20-2013 07:15 PM

If they need help on the power play, Kaberle would be very available

Kessely Snipes 01-20-2013 08:26 PM

I don't see the Flyers trading Hartnell, especially for that package.

Jray42 01-20-2013 09:21 PM

Not even close from a philadelphia pov.

I just dont understand people. Getting an upgrade while adding someone with minimal value doesnt make a deal fair, its not nhl 13 people.

MasterDecoy 01-20-2013 11:11 PM

hartsy is awesome, but he's not getting traded for that package.

besides, doesn't make much sense for montreal since we are, or should be, rebuilding.

cole for prospects/picks would be a more realistic trade

Or Galyunchuk if they didn't need the depth on the blueline.

He's probably their highest valued player.

Bryzgalov has been the best player on the ice for us so far...

This isn't close for Philly.

Habs would love to have Hartnell, but Philly isn't looking to trade him and if they were, the asking price would be much higher than what was proposed in the OP.

Why would the Flyers ask for Galchenyuk when offense is their position of strength? Technically defense isn't so much a weakness since it looks solid (at least on paper, but paper doesn't always win games). The only time it becomes a problem is when Kimmo retires then they should trade for a number 1 defenseman.

CharlesHabsFan 01-21-2013 08:00 PM

The highest value on the Habs is Price, then you can say Galchenyuk, Pacioretty and Subban, in whichever order they may come.

As much as Hartnell would be awesome, there's clearly no way the Flyers send him to Montreal for Cole and Diaz. Cole and Emelin or Tinordi would seem a little more fair.

But even so, I wouldn't think we could get Hartnell without having to give Subban...

Too much considering the age difference. Counter offer with Subban/Eller for Couturier/Hartnell?
