Jonathan Paiement

This kid has some awesome offensive numbers for a defenseman but what else stands out is that he scraps and he has a great plus/minus rating. Are there any Rangers fans that can tell me more about him? Is he a great skater, does he clear the front of the net well (assume he does cause he's a scrapper too) and can he become a Ranger immediately? I am close to acquiring his rights from another GM and need word about this guy.

he was a late draft pick, in the 8th round I think. Maybe he can be a late round steal... But their must be a reason that he was picked so late. What are his flaws to his game?? He puts up good numbers and has good +- and fights as well. Something must be misleading..

He was a late pick...

and he was an older pick. He kind of just sprung onto the scene, and thus has to prove consistency to gain traction in the minds of the pundits.

What little I know on him is that this year has been a breakout year for him. There was quite a bit of buzz on these boards about him early in the season, but no-one's really had anything to add of late. At the time, people were wondering if this was a sign of continued improvement (he seems to have gotten better each year in Juniors), or just a fluke.

Like a lot of Q guys, his skating can charitably be described as "average".

He's a 20 year-old playing among kids in the Q. He has zero chance of making the Rangers immediately and is IMHO a longhsot to make the WolfPack out of camp.
