The Following

It's a new tv show that premiere's tomorrow on FOX (I know they are pretty quick with the hook though). It stars Kevin Bacon who is an FBI agent trying to track down a serial killer who communicates people who become copycats of him. Anyone going to give it a watch?

don't know why, but i thought this had aired already

EvilCoop 01-21-2013 10:04 PM

That was pretty good, IMO. I'm certainly going to watch it next week.

Pattysaurus 01-21-2013 10:15 PM

Agreed. I'll be watching this again.

RayFIN 01-21-2013 11:00 PM

Started eh, got really good, then back towards the eh side for me. Will definitely continue watching, just don't see this show lasting for more than 15-20 episodes before its idea runs out and becomes dull. I guess someone else could eventually take over the cult or something, but we shall see what direction they go with it.

Will definitely be watching next week, but not banking on this one lasting for a few seasons.

17futurecap 01-21-2013 11:07 PM

Will watch again, people going from good to bad will become annoying just like when it happened way too much on 24. I mean did anyone think the two neighbors were not going to be bad guys?

I did like the end with Bacon talking to the guy in jail, kind of setting everything up. Also hope the guy stays in jail, and is not breaking out every other episode, and just lets his followers do all the killing.

McOilbleeder 01-21-2013 11:18 PM

I really enjoyed it. It was a welcome change from alot of TV shows. I'll definitely tune in next week. I liked that they killed Sarah. It was advertized as pushing the boundaries of network TV and it absolutely did that.

My only concern, if every ****ing person is going to turn out to be a sleeper, then we're looking at a 24 type situation where we have a mole everywhere all the time. I hope they can keep that to a minimum.

I really liked it.

EDIT TO ADD: I also hope there is solid reasoning. I don't want his 'followers' running around killing people for ***** and giggles.

Rhett4 01-21-2013 11:39 PM

I liked it...but there's no way this can stretch for multiple seasons. I'm also going to get tired of second-guessing every character and wondering who is a "follower" after a couple weeks. I get why killing Sarah made sense for the series, but you're getting rid of Maggie Grace already. Really? :(

Purefoy's character seems more charming than Charles Manson, so it kinda makes sense already. ;)

I thought it was alright i liked the way the end set things up with a smart and caculated killer that was a few steps ahead of Bacons character but like most of you i dont see how they can draw this out without being alot of interogation room and procedrial format i hope it does well because most of the locations are close to where i live i work in some of the locations so its creepy to have a show based on that close to home when the real life
prison is there

P.S. I have been drinking so dont kill me on spelling or puncuations

It was a lot better than that Alcatraz show they tried in the same timeslot last year, but I hope they slow it down a little bit in the next few episodes. When you throw in too many swerves and heel turns, they all start to lose their effect.

BonMorrison 01-22-2013 08:52 AM

Thought it was great but am concerned that it may fall into procedural cop show territory. I hope they keep it serialized.

Kudos to FOX for actually airing a network TV show that has some balls.

MrFunnyWobbl 01-22-2013 10:02 AM

Good show but I was baffled by how bad those cops watching people were.

NewtJorden 01-22-2013 11:20 AM

It was good

Bubba Thudd 01-22-2013 12:25 PM

I missed it. Lots of spoilers in this thread, though...

JJTT 01-22-2013 01:48 PM

Is this similiar to Dexter or something?

Not at all. Not really sure what I would compare it to. It looks like it will be a guy orchestrating a cult/gang, from inside a prison while being interrogated, but he built his foundation of followers already and they are aware of what they need to do: kidnap, murder, etc.

Tuggy 01-28-2013 10:19 AM

I just watched the premiere over the weekend and I liked it. It is worthy of a series record on my DVR.

I'm not sure about the longevity of the show but I'll watch. My fear though is getting into a show only to have it cancelled :( I was a big fan of Awake and liked Alcatraz last season...

ArcataShark 01-28-2013 01:13 PM

It really wasn't that good. Very cheesy and unbelievable but hey it's TV. That girl with the the Poe written on her was just dumb I thought.

MrFunnyWobbl 01-28-2013 01:59 PM

will watch again

jumptheshark 01-28-2013 03:38 PM

intense

sorry to have that one girl killed off--but makes the ending more interesting

Rhett4 01-28-2013 11:28 PM

Second episode was OK as an hour-long horror/thriller. With that said, I still don't get it as a series. It's part procedural, part serial, and part horror movie.

I think it's going to be a bit much after a few weeks, too. I enjoy a violent show (hello, Sopranos?), but all good, violent shows pace themselves. They have humanity and family moments to balance the insanity (and also make the intense parts have more impact because of that). This seems like it's going to be non-stop twists, turns, and eerie music. I see bits of 666 Park Avenue, The Killing, and any cop procedural ever made.

17futurecap 01-28-2013 11:32 PM

Thought it was solid, good that they threw in some back story on some of the characters tonight, but would have liked to have seen some back story on the prison guard, maybe we get that next week since he is still alive.

EvilCoop 01-28-2013 11:41 PM

I can't imagine it being this violent for long, it's the first two episodes, maybe they just want to show us what the cult is capable of. And I don't see how a show can have too many acolytes wearing Poe masks and lighting people on fire. ;)

But that prison guard has potential to be an interesting character, it'd be a shame if they didn't attach more backstory to him.
