Who is more likely to challenge Boston in the North East?

I suppose I should include Toronto and Montreal, but seriously, LOL Montreal and LOL Toronto

Orr123 01-20-2013 10:13 PM

I picked Sens (homer vote!). But really. No one.

Realistically its Sens or Buffalo. But I don't see anyone really challenging Boston.

*And I'm taking this to mean division title --- like below, Sens would lose miserably in a one to one battle*

In a 1v1 game, the habs

For the division title, the sens

This...In a series only the Habs make me nervous. I think the Sens are the only ones who have a chance at making the playoffs. But who knows with a short season.

Trap Jesus 01-20-2013 10:25 PM

Not trying to be a homer, but I don't think any team in the NE is very close to the Bruins caliber. It's a shortened season, so a lot could happen, but I think you have to go with the Bruins as the clear favorites at this point in time.

Bruins/Habs games are always a toss-up, but the Habs are questionable to even make the playoffs. I think Buffalo is the next best team in the division, so I guess I'll say them.

I'm saying Buffalo too , i think people dont give them enough credit . They have a very good Goalie , some skills and they added something this year that they were lacking last year , toughness.

oilersfan87 01-20-2013 11:00 PM

Buffalo, in fact I could see them winning the division

Sarcasm?

Not sure why they always get so overrated. People called them contenders last year

The Podium 01-20-2013 11:15 PM

I honestly think Buffalo looks like the worst of the bunch.... dont think its quiet fair considering what Vanek and Pominville did today but before the game i thought the roster looked the worst of the 5 teams

Anyway, NE is probably the worst division in hockey right now. One contender, one bubble team and what looks like 3 basement dwellers. I suppose Sens have the best shot but i would not be surprised if it were Montreal, Toronto or Buffalo there by the end of the season.

Cory Trevor 01-20-2013 11:28 PM

Well the crazy thing is, I see if we had to play any of the other teams in a series, the B's maybe would look past them, which scares me alot. We did it with Washington last year. With a divisional opponent, i don't know if they could which benefits the B's.

However it would all change if we were to play Montreal. In seven game series with them, it doesn't matter who is the better skill level, they are all dogfights nowadays. There aren't any walks. There's quite a fair share of animosity at this point where any series with them would most likely go to seven games, with six probably being the minimum.

I guess though if the point is who will challenge throughout the season i would say either buffalo or ottawa.

olivertwist* 01-20-2013 11:29 PM

leafs

Dolph Ziggler 01-20-2013 11:31 PM

Voted Sens, meant to vote Sabres.

But really, I don't see any of them really challenging Boston.

My prediction from the Bold prediction thread:

I'm still going to stand by it. Miller can be a game changing goalie.

roflstomper 01-21-2013 12:14 AM

In a seven game series it's the Habs and it's not close, but for a regular season division title it's the Sabres.

derriko 01-21-2013 12:15 AM

I'd go about 70/15/15 percent chances of the Bruins, Sens, and then the Sabres winning the division in that order.

leaflover 01-21-2013 12:17 AM

It'll be awhile before the rest challenge the best.
A none option would have been the overwhelming winner.

Benny FTW 01-21-2013 12:27 AM

Sens or Sabres.

The Latvian 01-21-2013 01:05 AM

Sabres, big year from Ryan Miller.

billybudd 01-21-2013 01:11 AM

Nobody.

If I have to say someone, it's Buffalo

Hanke 01-21-2013 01:18 AM

Buffalo and Sens

you arent being a homer and i agree with you.when they are clicking on all cylinders, they can and should beat anyone.

McTankel 01-21-2013 03:15 AM

Nobody has a shot. They are a complete team, no one else is.

Malkin112 01-21-2013 04:43 AM

montreal and toronto can not even beat most of the sm-liiga teams let alone boston. Buffalo
