Sens interested in Antipin (KHL)

Rumour has it that the Senators are looking at KHL defenceman Viktor Antipin from the KHL (http://en.khl.ru/players/15999/)

Stefan G:son ‏@steffeG
Re: #Sens reported interest in D-man Antipin. He's a star defenceman for his KHL team, can't sign until next season unless club allows him.

SensChirp mentioned it this morning, anyone ever heard of this guy? What do you have to say?

Blind Gardien 01-22-2013 08:08 AM

If true, somebody is in trouble for telling. :) Looks like he played with Gonchar?

Greeningfan14 01-22-2013 08:21 AM

He played with Gonchar in the KHL so imagine paired with him again. Regardless, you can never have too many defenceman and hell if we do sign him and he plays well its a win. :handclap:

fedfed 01-22-2013 08:59 AM

"Star"? He played in the juniors last year, never called even in conversation for the "big" national team... I wouldn't call him a star. At least yet...

Yes.. Karlsson is soft

Reign Nateo 01-22-2013 09:01 AM

I would trust Murray and his team if they like a player.

That Norris Trophy should toughen him up then, right?

Why are you Sens fans so defensive of Karlsson? I never said he was a bad player, just that he was soft. I'm sure you agree with that, right?

Want Gonchar to go with him? Ease the transition? We can give you Viktor Tikhonov, too. Kid has spent equal years in tbhe US and Russia, speaks both languages flawlessly without even a hint of accent. Makes an ideal embassador, right? In return, we will only need...oh, say....Mark Stone? :sarcasm:

General Granny* 01-22-2013 09:41 AM

He's a 178, check the KHL website.

Qward 01-22-2013 09:56 AM

Interesting.

Next year Cowen will be back.Wiercioch looks like he is ready for this level...

Cowen/Karlsson
Phillips/Methot
Wiercioch.

Boro is close to being ready. Maybe a one year contract?

Garl 01-22-2013 10:03 AM

First of all, Metallurg will definately not allow their only offensive defenseman to go to NHL this season.

Also, Viktor is horrible defensivly, and I don't think his skating is NHL quality.

Either that or you sign him for a couple years and then when we have lots of NHL ready defenceman it puts us in a place of strength (kinda like goaltending now)
