J. Bernier to PHX

With the loss of Mitchell and Greene and Smith going down to injury. Phoenix has a stable of defense, what would the Kings be looking for?

Frolov 6'3 01-24-2013 08:57 AM

Phoenix will help the Kings more if they continue with Labarbara.

Reaper45 01-24-2013 10:20 AM

Were in the same division. You're not going to like the asking price.

Trillmike 01-24-2013 10:23 AM

No way LA sends him within the division. Only way that happens is an overpayment.

Rorschach 01-24-2013 11:41 AM

Klesla and a 1st for
Bernier and 3rd.

After that LA will have to overpay Ottawa for Ben Bishop.

Put yourself in LA's GM

Let say Phoenix give you the best offer around the league for Bernier...but not an overpayment

and another team in the other conference offer you a lesser offer for Bernier.

and let say, you have to trade Bernier.

you send him to Phoenix or in the other conference for a lesser offer?

Perro 01-24-2013 12:10 PM

I don't see Bernier fitting in in Arizona (they are still changing to that right). They are likely goign to try and lock up smith long term. If they are looking for someone to play this year while Smith is Injured (is it even serious?) than garon would be a better option.

rt 01-24-2013 12:11 PM

I bet Smith plays three games from now. Why is this getting so much attention?

I'm sure phoenix fans would react like this: :amazed::cry::(:p:

nikolai19 01-24-2013 12:38 PM

If Quick was to get injured then LA would be in the same position.

I would take the trade that improves my club the most. If you want to be the best, you have to be able to beat the best.

I wouldn't sit there worrying about one divisional team that I MIGHT face in the playoffs at some point down the line and where the player I sent MIGHT make them good. Because presumably the player(s) they sent me should help me beat them just as much as what I sent them could help them beat me, + those players I got can help me beat every other team.

Then don't ask....

I wouldn't give more than a 3rd right now. Not saying that Bernier isn't worth it, just that there is absolutely no long term need for him in the organization; and we are not going to pay significantly to fix at most a dozen games.

Divsional team yes, not conference team.

There's no might, in a normal season you play against them 6x. Might be 12 points for you and 12 points less for the other.

He is worth way mroe than a 3rd. I don't think he is worth what DL will be asking for but definately is worth more than a 3rd.

You send him to the other conference so it doesnt come back to bite you in divisional play or playoffs.

This is why PHX would have to do a major overpay to get this.

The logic of an LA-PHX trade is there but for this to happen they really need to use a third team as a middleman.

The deal may be Bernier + young Dmen + to PHX for a vet dman like Yandle.

Not interested. Sean Burke and Tippett's system can turn any (much cheaper) average large journeyman into a Vezina candidate. Visentin is coming along nicely, anyways.

Deal!! Sounds good to me

DesertDawg 01-24-2013 06:56 PM

Why???

untouchable21 01-24-2013 06:57 PM

Let the Kings hold onto their backup goalie. Smith will be back and likely re-signed long term. Coyotes are definitely not helping them out while they are injury riddled on the blue line.

SFKingshomer 01-24-2013 07:23 PM

More than Yotes would be willing to pay considering they're rivals

Bernier is worth a second rounder .

Undersized, underused, underdeveloped because of Quick, and turning almost 25.

Kings would have already got rid of him if they weren't adamant about trying to recoup some of the 11th overall pick they spent on him.

The Brewmeister 01-24-2013 09:14 PM

How long until they ask OEL for Bernier anyways?

I don't think anyone was going to go down that road, at least I hope. I see now that there is no deal to be made since you're just looking for a stopgap. But hypothetically, because the Kings don't need to make this deal either. Value wise, what about forwarding on the Turris package?

To LA:
Rundblad
2nd

To PHX:
Bernier

KingCanadian is going to have a fit when he sees this thread
