Off-Season Madness the 17th: A game on TV! Saturday vs Detroit 10am PT/1pm ET

I've got nothing for this version. Dammit we need baseball back.

so Stroman will be stretched out as a starter. What are everyones thoughts on that? Looks like he won't play in the MLB this year

He wanted to be a big league starter and it's probably easier to test him as a starter first and then convert him into a reliever instead of the other way around.

Reading around the internet, the d'backs are getting destroyed for getting the package they did for Upton.

Rightfully so. I think they were trying to please Justin rather than getting max value in return.

I don't know how much better it makes ATL this year.

Prado is a damn good hitter. Upton will be better in the long haul though, and it looks like they didn't give up any spectacular prospects like teaheran.

Good deal for ATL imo. Surprised the dbacks didn't move Kubel instead.

I wish AA could have used his Jedi mastermind tricks to get him for the Jays

Buddio 01-24-2013 02:37 PM

Just saw AA's QA with the fans at http://www.torontosun.com/2013/01/24...ex-anthopoulos
Pretty cool.

Upton had the Jays on his NTC list.

I figured he would so yeah, I'm fine with it. I think it makes sense. Even if he is not a starter in the future, it doesn't hurt to try and I think he could be a starter for at least the early part of his career. Its easy to convert from being a starter to reliever anyways than the other way around.

Beyond the obvious 6, Jays now have Jenkins/Lincoln/Germano/Vargas/Stilson/Nolin/Stroman all as potential starters if we need one for the upcoming season.

He could have been one of those guys in the mega deal that didn't happen (perhaps because Upton rejected the trade?).

Chandrashekhar Limit 01-24-2013 02:50 PM

When was the last time two brothers played on the same team?

Last ones that come to mind are the Giambis on Oakland.

It's great that he's so much fun instead of being a typical stuffed-shirt exec or deer-in-the-headlights uncomfortable with something like a chat.

Aside from the Giambi's I know the Alomar's were on the Indians and White Sox, Hairston's on San Diego and the Glavine's on the Mets.

Can he still throw 98 without the juice?

Eyedea 01-24-2013 03:52 PM

You never cease to amaze me FreeBird

LOL. What Eydea said.

The only juice this guy was taking had fruits in it. If you care to do any research at all you'd find out that the "banned substance" he was "using" is hardly "performance enhancing" and is in fact legal in certain parts of the world, including some states in North America.

He got nailed on the test because took an over the counter supplement that contains Methylhexaneamine (Which is not banned for sale in the US even though it is banned from baseball, and is contained in numerous weight loss products)

But of course, what are facts worth in any real discussion?

The LaRoche's played together in 2009 with the Pirates.

Howzabout: We want grass (coz Jays fans do it au naturel)?

Just finished watching up close with RA Dickey. What a phenomenal person, I'm so glad he's a Jay. Definitely copping a RA Dickey jersey this year, and looking forward to 3 years of him.
