Semi-official what to do with Ebbett thread

What to do with this guy? Is this going to be a unanimous get rid of the guy thread? I think he should be sent to the minors or traded for anything. Maybe trade him to NYI for some free weights and a couple of hockey bags??

Scottrockztheworld* 01-27-2013 10:46 PM

Shoot him out of a cannon?

timw33 01-27-2013 10:47 PM

We don't really have any other options until Kesler/Booth come back.

Royal Canuck 01-27-2013 10:47 PM

package him into the Luongo deal and hope it bumps up what we get in return, anything would help as long as he's not here.

Don't know why, but I just despise the guy.

pahlsson 01-27-2013 10:49 PM

keep him, slot him in some games if malholtra looks to be running out of gas, do not play him on the PK

Outside99* 01-27-2013 10:52 PM

Just don't put him on the PK, he's literally a pylon (aka not moving), plus he blocks shots with his stick

Seriously, he seemed completely surprised and unaware that Pavelski moved in from the point - if that wasn't his guy, whose was it then? Anybody with any hockey sense whatsoever would have been more aware.:shakehead

y2kcanucks 01-27-2013 10:52 PM

Waive him and call up Sweatt or Pinizzotto?

Intoewsables 01-27-2013 10:56 PM

Definitely Option 4.

banish to madagascar

Can't stand him, find it hard to believe that we wouldn't be better off with someone else from the Wolves in that 4th line spot. Either that or a minor deal to bring someone in.

I definitely don't want to continue much longer with Ebbett as the 13th forward.

PG Canuck 01-27-2013 11:02 PM

I don't understand why Ebbett is getting so much hate. It's not Ebbett's fault he is being put into situations by AV, that he is just destined to fail in. He doesn't have enough skill, yet he's getting all these minutes; how is this his fault? Ebbett is fine when he has limited minutes as a fourth line player, it's when he's being put in situations that don't fit him as a player. To me, that's unfair because he garners so much unnecessary hate for it.

It also doesn't help we don't have many other options right now either. Now that Manny is back, I assume he'll draw back in against LA and hopefully Ebbett is scratched.

what situations is he good in? he gets exposed no matter where or when he plays. He's not an NHL player.

He's fine when he isn't getting a boatload of minutes on the fourth line. He should strictly be a depth player, one that isn't a regular with the Canucks. Better served when he's just filling in for an injured player for a game because clearly, he is not an NHL regular.

Tiranis 01-27-2013 11:12 PM

Let's keep in mind he's the 15th forward on this team. 2 Top 6 guys are injured. Not his fault that AV and Bowness apparently think he's a stud on the PK. Arniel not helping by playing him there the whole season in Chicago (not to mention telling AV that he was their best forward) but AV should've really done his homework better.

Taelin 01-27-2013 11:13 PM

I concur with blasting him out of a cannon. He's looked bad on the Wolves and the Canucks, so no use in keeping him in the system.

Jack Tripper 01-27-2013 11:14 PM

if henrik sedin, malhotra and lapierre were playing close to an accepable level then he'd be a healthy scratch

mrmyheadhurts 01-27-2013 11:21 PM

Has anyone here seen, "Old Yeller"?

jigsaw99 01-27-2013 11:25 PM

get him as far away from AV as possible. Next we will have him with the Sedins if this goes on any longer.

lol. we are not talking about Malhotra here though..

Jyrki 01-27-2013 11:27 PM

He's a depth forward on a good day. Should never be asked to play more than 4th line minutes.

Samzilla 01-27-2013 11:36 PM

I have no idea why he's getting so much special teams time. He wasn't great on special teams for the Wolves this year but there he was, every time, without fail. I swear to god, Arniel has drugged AV and is telling him what to do.

Trade for Aaron Rome.

Then send Aaron Rome to Mars.

Waveburner 01-27-2013 11:49 PM

Tonight the problem was all on Vigneault. Ebbett belongs nowhere near an NHL PK unit. He was out there forever on the second period one just standing in one spot all shift then proceeded to do the same thing on the third period PK. Cost the team two goals. That is on the coach.

He also does not belong on the powerplay either and has not earned a spot by any means so why was he out there? Just ugly coaching from AV tonight.

Ebbett isn't a terrible 13th forward type, as long as the coach is aware of his limitations.
