There should not be a limit on the amount of times a player shoots in a shootout

Makes no sense that you can only shoot one player one time.

Dellstrom 01-29-2013 08:54 PM

Tyler Seguin scored twice in tonight's shootout, so I pick him.

bleedblue1223 01-29-2013 08:54 PM

Makes complete sense that you can't.

He got a re-do cause of the water bottle/bannana.

Lemme guess: Kassian, Kassian, Kassian

I'm joking. I also misread the title, I thought it was asking what player you would choose if you could shoot twice.

Agreed with above, makes complete sense why you can't...

What's the reason? Maybe there is one. i just don't get it.

Please pick a thread title that signifies what you want to talk about. This cliffhanger crap doesn't fly.

No this wasn't about the canucks. I was watching the devils/bruins game and the devils probably would have won if they were allowed to shoot kovalchuk every time.

Black and Gold 01-29-2013 09:00 PM

IMO it makes it more of a gimmick than it already is.

Good, it seems that you've found the answer as to why one skater can't shoot multiple times.

Makes a team game even more individualistic. The shootout alone is bad enough at doing that, no need to make it worse.

Okay, but what's wrong with making it a bit more individualistic?

I don't like the shootout, but it gets even more annoying when i end up watching defensemen taking the shots.

Huh? How is that a reason? I'm pretty sure in international play after the 1st 5 shots you can repeat shooters why not allow it in the NHL.

DevilChuk* 01-29-2013 09:07 PM

There should definitely be a limit. I don't want it to become a superstar vs. superstar contest, over and over and over.

I kind of enjoy longer shootouts where unlikely names are put in the spotlight of winning or losing it all.

Maybe have some rule after every X players, a player can shoot again.. but even then I don't know if I'd like that.

Because hockey is a team sport.

Yeti of the Flow 01-29-2013 09:08 PM

Taking the one aspect of strategy out of the dumbest gimmick in hockey seems like a reasonable idea to you? Help. I'm lost.

canucks9314 01-29-2013 09:09 PM

IMO it would make the shootout more intense. 1 player vs another.

OpethNJD 01-29-2013 09:12 PM

Repeating after the first 5 seems good. Once the first 4 shooters go its just a matter of luck anyways

How is this what you've posted at all? You've said there should be no limit. You've proposed one player can shoot over and over.

Edit - You did post it, just not reasonably. If you have an idea, keep the entire idea in one post. It's basic forum etiquette.

I don't think there should be a limit at all but i wouldn't mind the international rule.

SmoggyTwinkles 01-29-2013 09:14 PM

I think the backup goalies should have to play the shootout, and the healthy scratches should be the shooters.

They had 65 minutes to decide the thing, let's see if the leftovers can get it done!

:sarcasm:
