Last thread was nearing 1000. Lets continue the discussion here.

Well, the Oil Kings seem to have shaken off that Kootenay Ice bugaboo. They're currently pounding them 4-0 on the strength of 3 goals over a two minute span in the 2nd period.

for that mistake

Kootenay's goalie now knows what "shell shocked" is!

Awesome win for the OKs today.

Six in a row :) Can't really complain. They are playing great hockey right now.

Moonlapse Vertigo 02-02-2013 09:30 PM

7th win in a row against the Broncos last night in convincing fashion. They're currently up 2-0 against the Tigers in Medicine Hat and Curtis Lazar just scored his 27th goal. Damn impressive after his relatively slow start to the season.

Hitmen lose 2-0 in Prince Albert. Oil Kings leading 4-0 in Medicine Hat. Edmonton has gone from 5 points to 11 up on Calgary in 4 days.
Amazing.

And the Oil Kings currently lead the Tigers 4-0 after two periods.

How has Reinhart been looking during this win streak?

The Oil Kings have a stifling defense (the best on the WHL) and he's leading the charge. He hasn't been scoring as many points this year but during this win streak I think he had a two goal game. He's really settled into his role as captain.

That's great, we have high hopes for him on LI. Thanks for the input.

You're welcome. For some perspective on how dominant his defense is, the Oil Kings have 204 goals for (after tonight) to 111 against.

Moonlapse Vertigo 02-02-2013 10:58 PM

Oil Kings win their 8th in a row with a 6-0 triumph over the Tigers.

Trevor Cheek has 7 goals and 5 assists since coming over from the Vancouver Giants. Great addition.

I'm pumped to see Portland play the oil kings in the finals again.

Moonlapse Vertigo 02-02-2013 11:19 PM

Me too. We'll see how they measure up going into the playoffs when they play the Winterhawks on February 27th.

Mr Forever 02-02-2013 11:21 PM

Will the OK's be bad next year?

Who's coming back?

Don't overlook Kelowna and Kamloops. Portland might be the favourite but it's not going to be easy getting out of the West.

We discussed this a few months back. They should be OK, but very likely not as good as the last 2 years. That would be impressive, but rare. It's impressive to have 2 back to back dominant years in junior hockey.

Jarry, Legault, Gernat, Moroz, and Lazar should be good. I've really liked Mayo this year too.

Brossoit will be gone. Lowe, Reinhart, Musil will be gone on D. Wruck, Foster, St. Croix, Cheek, Ewanyk will all be gone up front. Likely Samuelsson too.

Jarry
Dea

Gernat Corbett
Sautner Mayo
Shmoorkoff Irving
Carroll

Legault Lazar Moroz
Kulda Benson Bertolucci
Baddock Pollock ???
??? ??? ???

We'll see. I trust Bob Green and Randy Hansch to fill the holes. They probably have some ridiculous forwards somewhere in the middle of nowhere in BC or Sask.

Might have to trade some D for forward.

3 assists for Gernat tonight too. Good to see him returning to form.

Kamloops isnt much.

Theyve been pretty much .500 since their long winning streak to start the season.

Kelowna and Spokane will be tough though.

Samuelsson and Reinhart may not be gone. They either have to make their nhl teams or play for the Oil Kings. I think one or both will be back.

That's right. I guess guys like Baertschi could play in the AHL this year because
of fall birthdays.

You'd think Huberdeau would have played in San Antonio during the lockout if he were allowed.

I see Reinhart making the Isles, but I'm not sure Samuelsson makes the Coyotes.

Gernat won't be back, he would take a 20 yr old and an Import spot so that isn't going to happen, He's signed by the Oilers so he'll be in their system somewhere.

JordanGalhanth 02-05-2013 12:27 PM

Glad to see them doing well.

Brossoit named WHL goalie of the month.

Big game tonight in PA.
