Jeff Skinner to Vancouver

I really love this kid and the energy he brings, with both Staal's I figured he might be expendable. <--- make that expendable-ish

Obviously it would take a pretty good chunk from the Canucks, and again obviously no Luongo.

Where are the Canes weak? wings? D? bottom six?

Drew311 01-30-2013 05:53 PM

I don't think anything the Canucks have would make sense for Carolina to move Skinner.

Stephen Goalbert 01-30-2013 05:54 PM

Nope.

BlackRedYellow 01-30-2013 05:54 PM

Overpayment. Think two top prospects and a roster player.

Kassian
Jensen
Raymond

Something like that. NOT worth it.

Canes would still laugh at that for Skinner.

Lemons 01-30-2013 05:56 PM

Edler for Skinner is the only thing that i could see happening

I would do it from a Vancouver point of view. Worth it.

Steve Bennett* 01-30-2013 05:57 PM

I would love this guy on the Canucks, probably just a dream for now...

lush 01-30-2013 05:58 PM

I just don't see it

Warden of the North 01-30-2013 05:59 PM

Ya, I dont think its happening. Nothing the Canes would be interested in worth Skinner IMO

Kris Chreider 01-30-2013 05:59 PM

So why do Canucks fans insist on acquiring guys like Perry, Gaborik, and Iginla? Wouldn't Troy Brouwer or Viktor Stalberg or Devin Setoguchi work?

Enjoy losing the division to Minnesota while you wait for a superstar just to play on your 2nd line.

Nope not expendable. It'll take a kings ransom to pry him out of Carolina right now.

jarome 01-30-2013 06:01 PM

Skinner is the future of the canes. He's young, he's talented, he has five goals already this season. I'm pretty sure he's not expendable just because they have the staal's.

Insist? Who wouldn't want to add one of those pieces....

StringerBell 01-30-2013 06:11 PM

I think it would take a healthy dose of Angel's Breath for Rutherford to work out a deal here.

jeromeo87 01-30-2013 06:12 PM

Nope. Nope. Nope. Not at all expendable.

But Canucks fans never want to give anything of value, like Kassian or Jensen.

id give one of Jensen/Tanev, a pick and a roster player for Skinner. eg: Raymond, Booth, Higgins.

More than anything I think the Canucks require a skilled player, with that high energy, like Skinner. Sedins while excellent, don't offer up that energy...

Like i said in the OP it would take a really big chunk from the Canucks.

Rutherford would laugh/dry heave at that offer.

Not happening on both sides.

Keep him.

You're confusing two different scenarios. Canuck fans don't want to give anything of value (Kassian, Jensen) for a player like Brouwer or Stalberg, and who would? If someone from that first tier was available, it's obvious one or both would be involved.

Either way, Kesler and Booth aren't out so long that its worth picking up a 2nd/3rd line tweener as a stop gap as you suggested. If we're adding a top 6 option we want them to be good enough to stay there when Kesler and Booth come back, not get pushed down to the 3rd and 4th line.

Prototype1x 01-30-2013 06:39 PM

That's why I asked and didn't originally propose it.

everyone just says overpayment, well whats this overpayment?
I'm curious as a Canucks fan if i could live with that over payment.

I asked what the Canes need

in typical HF fashion, "NOPE NEVER EVER EVER!!!11!!!"

I have no idea what you're trying communicate here, but from one Canuck fan to another- you're being obnoxious.

It's not NHL13. The problem is you are asking what they "need" but in the process, taking away something that they will then need even more if Skinner is traded. Skinner and E. Staal have accounted for almost 70% of the teams goals this season. But I'll play along. IF the Canes trade Skinner, the overpayment would be a young (under 24) 30 goal scorer who is locked up for 5+ years and a top 3 defenseman.

EDIT: and even then I doubt Rutherford would even consider it.

The reason is that unless Skinner demands a move, a move isn't going to happen. Skinner is a likely franchise forward.

If you want a forward like Skinner think a trade like:

Kassian
Edler
First

It took two high 1sts and a 2nd to get Kessel, and Skinner is worth more he was. The trade value of Skinner is somewhere between the Kessel and Lindros trades.
