[CHI/WAS] Peter LeBlanc to Capitals for Futures
Officially, the trade is Peter LeBlanc to Washington for Future Considerations. What the future considerations actually are is Matt Beaudoin, who is on an AHL deal, and was dealt to Rockford of the AHL. So, since you can't trade a guy on an NHL deal for a guy on an AHL deal, it's LeBlanc for Futures and Beaudoin for futures.

Leblanc has nothing of real NHL potential ,, Likely a career minor leaguer who maybe gets a cup of coffee at NHL level

Played ok at times last year in Rockford but just doesn't have much of a future IMO

I'm surprised that Chicago traded as he LeBlanc was a Blackhawks draft pick whom the club didn't sign, but gave him an AHL deal and he played two full seasons in the AHL then signed an NHL deal last summer, so he put in his time, gets his NHL deal then gets traded. He'll be hard-pressed to get another one, I think.

Always weird to see a player on a NHL contract traded for someone who only has a AHL contract.

The only time I recall this happening was last year when Chicago traded Brandon Segal to Tampa Bay for future considerations (those considerations were Matt Fornataro who had an AHL only contract).

Anyway, this deal between Washington and Chicago looks kinda pointless since both players seems really similar. The only advantage is that it clears a contract spot for Chicago. They are currently at 47 contracts (that's if Saad counts)
