Prime: Pronger or Leetch
 

In there primes these two were unbelievable, of course Pronger being the first Dman since Orr to win the Hart in 200, and Leetch put up amazing offensive numbers while being steady in his zone. So i ask, who was more dominant during there prime, Pronger or Leetch?

Peak performance going with Pronger.

Pronger on physicality.

Leetch scored 100+ points and won the Conn Smythe in his prime. Pronger is the most overrated defenseman ever on these boards.

Pronger was a candidate (and should have won at least two) for 3 Conn Smythes with 3 different teams in the span of 4 years.

And he came away with 0.

Prongers playoff performaces speak for themselves...Arguing Leetch is the better player off a Conn Smythe is not going to seperate him from Pronger.

That still does not mean he was the more dominant dman in the playoffs.

Chopper also has a Smyth and the hight point totals but I am still going to take Pronger over both those guys in the playoffs at his peak.

What's your point? Anyone who was watching knows that he was the best player in the 2006 and 2007 playoffs, and he was also the best in the 2010 playoffs until the last half of the finals.

My point is that 1 Conn Smythe win is better than none. Are you going to try and prove me wrong with that?

That's a really narrow view of it. You won't find many people who think that Leetch was overall a better playoff performer than Pronger.

Leetch gets a slight hand by my vote but the fact is, every time Pronger joins a team; they make the cup finals. He is the guy who sets a team over the edge and even got one of them a cup. However! Leetch stuck with one team and was the key component (As well as Messier) to obtaining a cup. Leetch didn't just join a team and get them a cup, he helped the rangers win from day one and got them to their pinnacle. The rangers were a team that had no buisness winning a cup but they did it.

Leetch.

He's often accused of having a short prime, which I blame his team for, but either way, very few can match that prime.

Close, but going homer vote for Leetch. The guy was a revelation in his short time here.

Pronger easy

Pronger and it isn't even close.

Leech sucked in his own zone and Pronger provided tons of off sense and he was of the hardest guys to get past for years. His meanstreak is legendary.

He willed the Oilers to the finals.

I take Pronger before Lidstrom and Bourque in one playoff run.

I saw Leetch and I saw Pronger. Leetch was awesome, but this one is Pronger without a second thought. Of skaters I've seen play, after only Lemieux and Gretzky, Pronger exerted the most impressive level of control over the ice during his best seasons.

Hyperbole doesn't win you arguments. Leetch was at the very least "average" in his own zone. There were seasons where he was very good in his own zone.

That said, I take Pronger for career and prime. Peak is a toss-up.

As a large fan of both, I can't go against Pronger. He had everything and then always had a bit extra when he needed it.

Chris Pronger for sure.

Between Pronger and Leetch, the choice is Pronger easily.

The harder decision would be between Pronger and Chelios.
