Malkin "tomahawk"

Suspension or not?

Start 2:00

Turrican* 02-01-2013 04:43 PM

Nah.

Staal had a helmet. He is fine.

Samzilla 02-01-2013 04:44 PM

nobody cared when malkin almost ended willie mitchell's career. no one will care now.

TheAngryHank 02-01-2013 04:45 PM

Firet time I have seen this. should get 4 games. What an idiot.

AndyPipkin 02-01-2013 04:45 PM

Tit for tat?

Fanned On It 02-01-2013 04:46 PM

Uh... why is Malkin using his stick as a weapon blatantly? I think he should get a suspension considering the fact that he was obviously trying to hit Staal up high, using his stick as a weapon. Most of you will probably call me a homer but I would have this opinion even if it wasn't done against a Ranger.

Hynh 02-01-2013 04:47 PM

Staal's slash on Malkin right before he tackles him is worse.

Kloparren 02-01-2013 04:47 PM

Ooh that's dirty. I like Staal coming back at him.

I don't understand why NHL teams don't lay the body on Malkin more. It's been proven over and over that when he has to play through that at times he gets off his game. Every team has at least one bully on their blue line, get in his face. This isn't the 80s, this is the 2nd dead puck era. You can go after a star without much repercussions as long as you don't overstep the line.

Sasso09 02-01-2013 04:47 PM

Should get 5 games but it's Malkin so no

useless 02-01-2013 04:47 PM

That would be some serious insult to injury after taking a cross check to the back of the neck. Love how the rangers announcer says calmly staal finishes his hit.. lol

butteryslugz 02-01-2013 04:48 PM

not surprised. malkins cheap. he's too good to be doing stuff like that.

eXile59 02-01-2013 04:48 PM

If you're gonna suspend him you're gonna have to suspend Staal too. He took some serious whacks at his knees before tackling him. If Staal didn't want to play that game he shouldn't have started it.

ManInTheBox 02-01-2013 04:49 PM

It's early in the season, why not a suspension?

Hybbe 02-01-2013 04:49 PM

Probably should be, that was definitely intentional, but star players usually get away with more than others.

By the way, did anyone else notice Tanner Glass trying to unstrap Staal's jersey at 0:27? Is that common in chaotic situations like that to try to get a minor out of it?

Homer

hatterson 02-01-2013 04:49 PM

Staal's two hander across the wrists was far more likely to cause an injury.

Machinehead 02-01-2013 04:51 PM

I think that's the kinda thing you get 5 for, maybe a game misconduct if it's caught on the ice. Not really suspendable imo.

bravehab 02-01-2013 04:51 PM

a little bit dirty as malkin always is, I don't see a problem or suspension though

So you're saying there are times when it's OK to to use your stick as a weapon to the head of another player?:shakehead

PensFever71 02-01-2013 04:53 PM

I forgot why i love this place. 50,000 Brendan shannahans. Dirty and dangerous. Suspend his filthy butt and anyone else who performs a move uncommon to the game.

That happens a **** ton. Body parts get slashed. You can't be swinging sticks into people's heads. You can really **** somebody up for doing that.

It's no surprise, Pens do this **** all the time and act like its cool. "Oh well they were slashing us." Not in the ****ing face though. They should stop acting like they're above this, they're cleary not and take things waaaaay too far all the time.

If you have Rangers and Flyers fans agreeing over something than you know you must be a real *******.

PAZ 02-01-2013 04:55 PM

Staal was just as much at fault. If Malkin got a suspension, Staal would be getting one as well.

Rowdy Roddy Peeper 02-01-2013 04:55 PM

Yeah, just ignore the slash, hit, and stick in the face Malkin took leading up to it. For poking at a puck during a play that had yet to be whistled down.
